Jeremy Clarkson has revealed a major cancer diagnosis in an emotional episode of Clarkson’s Farm.

The 66-year-old presenter shared the news during the latest series of the Amazon Prime Video documentary, leaving his co-stars visibly stunned.

Clarkson, one of the UK’s most famous broadcasters, has spent decades building a career on controversy, cars, farming, and his trademark blunt sense of humor.

But in the newly released episodes, viewers saw a far more vulnerable side of the former Top Gear host.

Clarkson became one of Britain’s biggest TV stars

Clarkson first became a household name through his work on motoring television.

He is best known for fronting the BBC’s Top Gear between 2002 and 2015 alongside Richard Hammond and James May.

The trio transformed the show into a global phenomenon, mixing car reviews with comedy, road trips, stunts, and celebrity interviews.

After leaving the BBC, Clarkson, Hammond, and May reunited for Amazon’s The Grand Tour, which became another major hit.

Clarkson has also hosted ITV’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and written columns for major newspapers for many years.

Clarkson’s Farm changed his public image

In 2021, Clarkson launched Clarkson’s Farm, a series following his attempt to run Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds.

The show quickly became one of Prime Video’s most popular original series.

While many viewers initially expected a comedy about a celebrity struggling with farming, the show became known for highlighting the real pressures faced by farmers.

Clarkson worked alongside farm manager Kaleb Cooper, land agent Charlie Ireland, and other regulars including Gerald Cooper.

The series showed everything from failed crops and bad weather to planning battles, livestock problems, and financial strain.

It also turned Kaleb into a breakout star and made Diddly Squat Farm a tourist attraction.

His recent health struggles had already worried fans

Clarkson’s health has been a recurring theme in recent years.

In 2024, he revealed that he had undergone a heart procedure after experiencing what he described as a sudden deterioration in his health.

Writing in his Sunday Times column, Clarkson said doctors discovered that one of the arteries supplying blood to his heart was completely blocked, while another was also becoming severely restricted.

He was fitted with a stent to help improve blood flow.

The presenter later admitted he had been told to make major lifestyle changes, including addressing his high cholesterol levels.

The latest season of Clarkson’s Farm opened with discussion of that heart scare, before later turning to another health issue.

He warned fans the episodes would be difficult

Before the final episodes of the fifth series were released, Clarkson posted a video to Instagram warning viewers that they would be emotional.

“They’re really, really difficult,” he said, per Sky News.

Fans initially wondered whether the warning was connected to the ongoing difficulties on the farm, including concerns around livestock and the future of Diddly Squat.

But the episodes revealed something much more personal.

In one scene, Clarkson sat down with Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland to tell them he had received serious medical news.

Both men appeared shocked as he spoke.

Kaleb became emotional during the exchange, telling Clarkson: “I don’t like this.”

Clarkson replied with characteristic dry humor: “I wasn’t thrilled.”

He told co-stars he would be out of action

During the conversation, Clarkson explained that he had gone for a medical appointment and later had a biopsy.

He said the issue had been discovered early and reassured Cooper and Ireland that he expected to be fine.

“I promise I’ll be fine,” he told them.

He also explained that he would be unavailable for some time while undergoing treatment.

Cooper urged him to look after himself, while Ireland wished him a speedy recovery.

The moment struck many viewers because of the usually comedic dynamic between the three men.

Instead of teasing and farm mishaps, the scene showed genuine concern between colleagues who have become central to the show’s emotional appeal.

Clarkson spoke from hospital

Later in the programme, Clarkson was shown in hospital.

He told viewers that part of his treatment had not gone as planned.

“I’m going to be here for a little while,” he said.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

He then addressed the future of the programme in a typically blunt but emotional way.

“If this is all successful, I’ll see you for season six,” he said.

“And if it isn’t, I won’t. Take care, everyone.”

The moment left many fans emotional, with social media quickly filling with messages of support.

Why early checks matter

Clarkson’s diagnosis has sparked renewed discussion around the importance of health checks, particularly for men.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men in the UK, according to major cancer charities and health services per the Independent.

Around one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime.

Symptoms can include needing to urinate more often, especially at night, difficulty starting urination, weak flow, straining, or feeling that the bladder has not fully emptied.

However, early prostate cancer often causes no symptoms at all, which is why checks and medical advice can be so important.

Treatment depends on the type, stage, and progression of the disease and can include active surveillance, surgery, radiotherapy, hormone therapy, or chemotherapy.

Clarkson himself previously spoke about taking prostate checks seriously after seeing friends affected by the disease, including Clarkson’s Farm regular Gerald Cooper, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer and later given the all-clear.

Jeremy Clarkson reveals cancer diagnosis

In the newly released episode, Clarkson revealed that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, the BBC reports.

He told Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland: “I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy, and it is cancer, and it’s aggressive, but it’s really early.”

According to reports, Clarkson revealed he has prostate cancer and said part of his prostate had been removed as part of treatment.

“The prostate, 10 percent of it’s dead,” he said in the episode. “The 10 percent where the cancer is.”

He added that he had known about the diagnosis since May.

Despite describing the cancer as aggressive, Clarkson stressed that it had been caught early.

“If I hadn’t got myself checked out and they hadn’t caught the problem early, this could well have been my last harvest,” he said.

“It’s only because they did catch it early, there’s every hope that I’ll be harvesting this farm for many, many years to come.”
