Reese Witherspoon has revealed that a friendship with a well-known Hollywood star came to an abrupt end after she made some ill-judged jokes at an awards ceremony.

“So I got up and roasted her,” she said.

“We are good friends and have never had any falling out.”

Her clarification appeared to end the speculation surrounding Winslet, although it did not reveal who the real actress was.
