Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have ignited a debate following reports they won’t be leaving their kids an inheritance.

The Hollywood couple has an estimated net worth of $275 million.

Their parenting approach has drawn praise and criticism, with some social media users applauding Kutcher and Kunis for instilling values of hard work and self-sufficiency.

One X (formerly Twitter) user said: “What’s the opposite of a nepo baby?”

Another wrote: “I love these two so much.”

However, others believe the couple’s kids should benefit from their parents’ wealth.

“I honestly don’t even see the point in having money if you’re not gonna pass it on to your kids,” commented one person.

A second shared: “If my parents did this to me, I’d hate them for the rest of my life.”

Kutcher and Kunis’s relationship began when they played on-screen lovers, Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart, on That ‘70s Show, which aired from 1998 to 2006.

Years later, their romance became real, and they began dating in 2012.

The couple announced their engagement in 2014 and, later that year, welcomed their daughter.

They welcomed their son in 2016, a year after tying the knot.

Kutcher and Kunis’s parenting style first made headlines when it was revealed they don’t give their children Christmas presents.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kunis revealed: “So far our tradition is no presents for the kids. We’re instituting it this year.”

The Black Swan actress added that while she and Kutcher refrain from gifts, her children’s grandparents will indulge them.

“We’ve told our parents, ‘We’re begging you – if you have to give her something, pick one gift,'” Kunis explained.

Reports regarding Kutcher and Kunis’s parenting style resurfaced after a post from celebrity gossip account Pop Tingz went viral.

It stated: “Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis reveal they will donate their $275 million fortune to charity and not leave anything for their children.”

The tweet, which has received over 108.9k likes and 26k retweets, added that the stars want to ensure their kids grow up with motivation and a strong work ethic rather than a sense of entitlement.

These statements stem from a 2018 interview in which Kutcher spoke with Dax Shephard on the Armchair Expert podcast.

During the chat, the Punk’d star revealed that he and Kunis have no plans to set up trust funds for their children.

“I’m not setting up a trust for them,” Kutcher explained. “We’ll end up giving our money away to charity and to various things.”

Kutcher justified this decision by pointing out that their children already have a privileged upbringing.

He said: “They’re living a really privileged life, and they don’t even know it. And they’ll never know it because this is the only one that they’ll know.”

However, the Jobs actor clarified that he and Kunis would be willing to support their children financially if they demonstrated passion and a solid plan for a business venture.

“If my kids want to start a business, and they have a good business plan, I’ll invest in it. But they’re not getting trusts,” he clarified.

Discussions regarding nepotism in Hollywood have been a hot topic recently, particularly following a New York Magazine cover story that examined the prevalence of ‘nepo babies’ – a term used to describe the children of celebrities who have leveraged their parents’ influence for their careers.

Stars such as Dakota Johnson, Zoë Kravitz, Maya Hawke, and Lily-Rose Depp were highlighted as examples of young actors benefiting from family connections, while more established figures like Kate Hudson and Jamie Lee Curtis were also included in the conversation.
