Matthew Perry Fans Outraged As Star ‘Disrespected’ At BAFTAs
Matthew Perry fans have been left upset and angry after the late star was ‘disrespected’ at last night’s BAFTAs.
Last October, the heartbreaking news of Perry’s death left fans deeply emotional.
Perry, who was best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the hit TV comedy Friends, was found dead aged 54 in his jacuzzi on October 28.
And now, fans of the late actor are outraged at the BAFTAs for disrespecting Perry during last night’s programming…

Perry, who was mostly raised in Ottawa, Canada, was best known as Chandler Bing.
He was cast in the role aged 24 and went on to star in all 236 episodes across 10 seasons.
On top of this, Perry starred in several other movies and TV shows, with roles in Fools Rush In, The Ron Clark Story and Scrubs.
But aside from his professional successes, Perry faced many troubles in his personal life.
Perry documented his addiction struggles in his memoir ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir’, which was released in 2022.
It documented his near-death experience in 2019 after his colon burst as a result of opioid misuse.
A report obtained by People magazine confirmed that Perry’s cause of death was due to acute effects of ketamine, with drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects also listed as contributing factors.
But now, several months on, there’s been further sadness for Perry fans.
They believe he’s been hugely disrespected at last night’s BAFTAs, and have taken to social media to share their outrage.
“Shame on you, BAFTA!” one fan writes on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Another person asks: “Why wasn’t he mentioned in the BAFTAs?????”
The reason people are so angry is that Perry was left out of the ‘In Memorium’ section of the award show.
During the emotional segment, Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham performed Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Time After Time’ as we saw the names and faces of those we have lost this year.
We saw tributes to celebrities including Jane Birkin, Sir Michael Gambon, Julian Sands, Tom Wilkinson and Tina Turner.
But it seemed as though Perry was conspicuously absent from the list…
And people are not happy about it.
One writes: “Forgetting the late, great Matthew Perry is just bad!”

Someone else fumes: “I love the BAFTAs so much right? I watch it religiously every year. But to not include Matthew Perry in the ‘In Memoriam’ is actually shocking.”
Another asks: “Seriously BAFTA? NO mention of Matthew Perry in the ‘In Memoriam’ tribute? Very disrespectful.”
“No Matthew Perry in the BAFTAs memorium?? Feels a tad disrespectful. Did they just forget?” questions somebody else.
Another writes: “2024 In Memoriam was a disgrace – too many important actors left off the list! What were you thinking? Shocking!! Apology needed!!”
However, it seems there’s a simple explanation for the apparent oversight.
As one X user puts it: “Guys, we had this same conversation re Bernard Cribbins last year; he’ll be recognised at the TV awards in May, as that’s where his most recognised work was.”
And the BAFTAs has confirmed this, explaining that: “Matthew Perry will be remembered in this year’s TV Awards ceremony.”
