The ‘Proud Mary’ singer, whose real name is Anna Mae Bullock, sadly passed away on May 24, aged 83, in her home in Switzerland.
News of her death rocked the music world, with many icons industry paying tribute – including Beyoncé.
The ‘Irreplaceable’ singer penned: “My beloved queen. I love you endlessly.
“I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way. You are strength and resilience. You are the epitome of power and passion.”
She added: “We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain.
“Thank you for all you have done.”

But now fans of Turner are pointing out a specific lyric from the Beyoncé song ‘Drunk In Love’ – which features Jay-Z.
In his section of the song, the ‘Hard Knock Life’ rapper says: “I’m Ike, Turner, turn up / Baby no I don’t play / Now eat the cake, Anna Mae / I said eat the cake, Anna Mae.”
This is a reference to ‘The Best’ singer’s ex-husband Ike Turner – who physically and mentally abused the late star.
They were originally in a band together – The Kings of Rhythm – but he soon began to control aspects of her life.
This included legally changing her name to Tina Turner without her knowing.
In ‘Drunk In Love’, Jay-Z references a well-documented moment in which Turner – who was still going by the name Anna Mae – was in a diner and fans asked for her autograph and not his.
Out of anger, Ike attacked her by forcing cake in her mouth while allegedly saying ‘Eat the cake, Anna Mae!’
This moment was shown in the 1993 biopic film What’s Love Got to Do With It, in which an argument between the couple – played by Angela Bassett and Lawrence Fishburne – turns physical and he forces her to eat the cake that he ordered in a diner.
Fans of the ‘Better Be Good To Me’ singer have taken to social media to call out the pair over their lyric.

One person says: “Not to be that girl but could we have that ‘Drunk In Love’ line revised now? It still feels icky.”
Another person adds: “I keep thinking about how disrespectful it was for Jay-Z and Beyoncé to have that ‘Drunk in Love‘ lyric making fun of Tina Turner’s abuse from Ike…”
“Knowing that Tina Turner was Beyoncé’s blueprint and one of her biggest influences makes that ‘Eat the cake Anna Mae’ line in ‘Drunk In Love’ even more jarring,” a third fan explains.
Somebody else pens: “Jay-Z will forever be nasty for ruining Drunk in Love with that Tina line. Why Bey kept it, I don’t know.”
“That ‘Eat the cake, Anna Mae’ line in ‘Drunk in Love’ by Jay-Z was so disrespectful and horrific,” writes a fifth person.
