Cash App Founder Bob Lee Has Been Killed
Cash App founder Bob Lee has been killed, according to reports.
Lee, 43, was the founder of the mobile payment service app developed by Square Inc.
He was also the chief product officer of MobileCoin.
The San Francisco Police Department say they received a report of a stabbing around 2:35am on Tuesday and they found a 43-year-old man with stab wounds.

The tech executive is believed to have been pronounced dead later on at a hospital.
In a statement, the police say: “Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene.
“The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“Despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries.”
Although the police have not revealed the identity of the victim, sources have reportedly told NBC Bay Area that the victim is Lee.

His friends have also told the San Francisco Standard that he had been in the area visiting for business and had decided to stay on an extra day when he was stabbed.
Joshua Goldbard, the CEO of MobileCoin, told KGO of San Francisco: “Bob was a force of nature. He helped to birth Android and CashApp into our world.”
“Moby was his dream: a privacy-protecting wallet for the 21st Century. I will miss him every day.”

The incident is being investigated by the police department’s homicide team, and as of early on Wednesday, no arrests have been made.
MobileCoin has not yet issued a statement on the matter.
Tributes have poured in on social media, with former MMA fighter Jake Shields remembering the tech executive as a ‘loyal friend’.
While Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk, has also expressed his condolences on the platform, stating that he is ‘very sorry’ to learn of Lee’s death.
He says: “Very sorry to hear that. Many people I know have been severely assaulted.
“Violent crime in San Francisco is horrific and even if attackers are caught, they are often released immediately.
“Is the city taking stronger action to incarcerate repeat violent offenders?”

Entrepreneur Bill Barhydt adds: “Bob was a dad, the former CTO of Square where he created Cash App & CTO of Mobile Coin.
“He was a generous decent human being who didn’t deserve to be killed.'”
While Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey says: “It’s real. Getting calls. Heartbreaking. Bob was instrumental to Square and Cash App. STL guy.”
Lee was a pioneer in the tech industry, having worked on a range of projects such as Android, Square, and Cash App.
He was also an advocate for privacy and was serving as the chief product officer of MobileCoin, which is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency.
