Bombshell Twist Emerges In Rob Reiner Case
Police have issued a major update in the death of Rob Reiner and his wife, after they were found dead at their home in LA.
Tributes to the Hollywood legend have flooded in since reports this morning that the 78-year-old and his wife were found dead at their LA home.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical aid call at the couple’s home around 3:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, first responders immediately launched a double homicide investigation, with detectives working through the evening at the scene.
Police have since issued a disturbing update in the case, revealing a bombshell twist following the tragedy.
‘I am horrified’
One fan on X (formerly Twitter) said: “In a world where fewer and fewer people concern themselves with the plight of others, the loss of Rob Reiner, who cared deeply about humanitarian causes, feels that much more devastating.”
A second paid tribute and wrote: “Rob Reiner was an American icon who, through his art and activism, held a mirror up to American culture.
“His talent, humor, activism, and patriotism will be missed. Our heart breaks at the senseless loss of our friend.”
Meanwhile, author Stephen King added: “I’m horrified and saddened by the death of Rob Reiner and Michele.
“Wonderful friend, political ally, and brilliant filmmaker (including two of mine).
“Rest in peace, Rob. You always stood by me.”
Rob Reiner’s career
Reiner’s career was nothing short of remarkable.
His time crafting Hollywood classics spanned over six decades, and he worked on some of the most loved movies of all time.
The beloved films also showcased his ability to work across multiple genres: the coming-of-age drama Stand By Me (1986), the fantasy adventure The Princess Bride (1987), the romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally… (1989), the psychological thriller Misery (1990), and the courtroom drama A Few Good Men (1992).
And his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, 67, was equally as talented in her own right.
Who is Michele Singer Reiner?
Michele was an accomplished artist and collaborator who began her career as a photographer.
She also acted and produced several films, including Shock and Awe and this year’s Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
She even received an Emmy nomination for producing the documentary Albert Brooks: Defending My Life, which her husband, Rob directed.
Their marriage
The couple met on the set of the iconic film When Harry Met Sally…, and their love story influenced the movie’s happy ending.
They got married in 1989, the same year that the film was released, and they went on to have a long and happy marriage.
Rob and Michele shared three children together, Jake, Nick, and Romy.
But in the update from authorities regarding yesterday’s tragedy, a bombshell twist has been revealed.
‘We love all our children, even the bad ones…’
In an interview with Piers Morgan shortly before his death, Rob spoke about the love he had for his children, while referencing which of the movies he’s directed best encompassed the legacy he wanted to leave behind.
The star confessed: “Well, I mean, listen, people have their favorites.
“It’s the cliché, we love all our children, even the bad ones.
Before revealing his choice: “Stand By Me.”
Billy Crystal and Larry David visit Reiner’s home following deaths
Billy Crystal and Larry David were seen visiting Reiner’s home shortly after reports emerged that the filmmaker had died, according to People.
A source told the magazine that Crystal, 77, and David, 78, arrived separately at the property on the night of Sunday, December 14.
A source told TMZ that, after Reiner and Michele’s daughter Romy discovered their bodies, Crystal and his wife Janice ‘raced over’ to the house and ‘wanted to say their goodbyes.’
A neighbor told ABC 7 Los Angeles that Crystal ‘looked like he was about to cry.’
Reiner worked closely with Crystal on several projects, including When Harry Met Sally…, This Is Spinal Tap and The Princess Bride.
He also appeared on David’s hit HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The bombshell twist
The star’s 32-year-old son, Nick, has now been charged with the murder of his parents, but the authorities have released a further shocking update.
A source said the couple appeared to have died from stab wounds, and their official cause of death has been named as homicide.
Prosecutors confirmed yesterday that they will file the charges including two counts of first degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders, and the special allegation that he used a dangerous weapon, which was a knife.
Sources have suggested that he had an argument with his father the night before his death, and that he had been found acting strangely, though this is currently speculation.
The 32-year-old made a brief court appearance on Wednesday (December 17), wearing an anti-suicide vest, where he did not enter a plea.
Who is Nick Reiner?
Nick had previously spoken publicly about his struggles with drug addiction, which began in his early teens and led to periods of homelessness.
In a 2016 interview with People, he noted that he was first sent to rehab at the age of 15.
He said: “That made me who I am now, having to deal with that stuff.
“Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in Los Angeles and being around my family.
“But there was a lot of dark years there.”
Following the charges, authorities noted that he could face the death penalty.
