WWE superstar Bray Wyatt has died at the age of 36, according to reports.

Wyatt – whose real name was Windham Rotunda – started his WWE journey as Husky Harris in the early 2010s, but it was his transformation into the enigmatic Southern cult leader Bray Wyatt that truly made him a standout.

With deep wrestling roots, he captured fans’ attention and left a lasting impact on the wrestling world.

Tragically, it’s now been confirmed that Wyatt has passed away.

The sombre news was shared by WWE Chief content officer Triple H on social media, who expressed shock at Wyatt’s unexpected passing.

In a heartfelt statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), Triple H said: “Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda [Bray’s father] who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today.

“Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”

Wyatt had returned to WWE last year after an absence, only to be sidelined following a match at the Royal Rumble against LA Knight.

Fightful had reported that Wyatt was recovering from a severe illness, one that jeopardised both his career and life, and he hadn’t received medical clearance to return to the ring.

It has been confirmed that Wyatt passed away from an ‘unexpected heart attack’, as disclosed by wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp.

Sapp revealed that he had received permission to disclose that the wrestler had contracted COVID-19, which had exacerbated underlying heart issues.

Although he had been making positive strides toward recovery, the 36-year-old faced an unexpected heart attack that led to his untimely demise.

Sapp urged the public to honour the family’s request for privacy during this emotionally taxing period.

Wyatt’s wrestling lineage was legendary, with his father Mike Rotunda (known as IRS) and grandfather Blackjack Mulligan having left their mark on the wrestling world.

Additionally, his brother is the current WWE superstar Bo Dallas.

Although Wyatt was released from WWE in 2021, he made a triumphant comeback at Extreme Rules in October of the same year, unveiling a new iteration of his iconic character.

Survived by his partner JoJo, a former WWE ring announcer, and four children, Wyatt leaves behind a legacy that touched the hearts of wrestling fans worldwide.

The wrestling community now mourns his loss.

British wrestling legend William Regal paid tribute on Twitter, writing: “Devastated to hear of the passing of Windham Rotunda, Bray Wyatt.

“My deepest condolences to Mike, Bo, Barry and all his family. Rest well, my friend.”

Former tag team partner Matt Hardy said he was ‘absolutely shattered’, while one-time manager Alexa Bliss shared her struggle to find words to convey her grief.

Wyatt’s passing marks a sombre moment in the wrestling world, adding to a week of sadness after the loss of legendary wrestler Terry Funk, who also passed away after a period of declining health.
