Cher Reveals Why She Lost Her Virginity Aged 14
Cher has shocked fans after revealing the reason why she lost her virginity at the age of just 14.
The ‘Believe’ singer offers an unfiltered look into the adolescent encounter in her memoir, ‘Cher: The Memoir, Part One.’
In one particularly striking passage, she described engaging in what she terms ‘revenge s**.’
Cher said the encounter was far from romantic and ‘a massively overrated experience.’
The legendary singer recalled having a crush on a boy in her neighborhood and they began dating when she was 14.
She said they would kiss in her bedroom but he was different when his friends were around.
“He was sweet enough when we were alone, but as soon as his friends came around, he’d treat me like an embarrassing kid,” Cher recounted, as per People.
When the boy’s friends mockingly referred to her as ‘that kid’ on one occasion, the singer’s response was driven by a mix of hurt and defiance.
Cher recalled: “I was so hurt when he did that, I had revenge s** with him. I had never wanted to. Otherwise, I would have done it one of the five hundred other times he asked.
“But I was so angry at being dismissed, I decided to, if not lose, loan out my virginity to him.”
She continued: “When what turned out to be a massively overrated experience came to an end, I asked him, ‘Is that it? Are we finished?’ Then I told him to go home and never come back.”
Her motivation was clear – she ‘wanted him to feel just as dismissed as he’d made me feel.’
Cher added that the boy tried to make it up to her, however, she never spoke to him again.
The ‘After All’ singer also recalled hearing her mother’s voice ringing in her ears after losing her virginity.
She remembered: “I half expected to see the word S** flashing in fluorescent letters across my forehead, but I couldn’t spot anything different, and she didn’t either.”
Although Cher kept the experience a secret from her mom, she would talk to friends about ‘fooling around with boys’ but never going to ‘fourth base.’
