Chris Hemsworth Regrets Taking A Selfie With Billie Eilish At The Oscars: ‘We Will Never Be Friends’
Chris Hemsworth has revealed he regrets taking a selfie with Billie Eilish at the Oscars, claiming they’ll ‘never be friends.’
The Thor actor and his wife, Elsa Pataky, captured a photo with the ‘Happier Than Ever’ singer during the 2024 Academy Awards.
In hindsight, Hemsworth believes it may not have been the best decision.
The actor explained why during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when he participated in the show’s ‘Questionert’ segment.
He reflected on the one celebrity selfie he wished he hadn’t taken.
Hemsworth recalled: “I got a photo with Billie Eilish at the Oscars, and I remember thinking ‘Ah, don’t do it, don’t do it.'”
Despite his initial hesitation, he and Pataky went ahead with the picture.

This is not the first time Hemsworth has found himself in the middle of a celebrity selfie situation.
In 2024, the Transformer One star told E! News about his experience at the Met Gala, where he seemingly ignored a widely known protocol against taking pictures.
Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to benefit the Costume Institute, the event enforces a ‘no-phone policy’ that discourages social media posts and photographs.
Yet Hemsworth admitted to capturing ‘heaps of selfies’ throughout the night.
“Selfies everywhere. A lot of selfies in my phone. Like, ‘When did I take that? Let’s delete that one,'” he humorously recalled.

During the conversation, Colbert asked Hemsworth whether he and Eilish had ever collaborated on a project.
The actor responded that they had not worked together but referred to them as ‘same industry-kind of colleague, bumping shoulders.’
Colbert playfully chimed in, joking that he, too, could consider himself colleagues with legendary actor Anthony Hopkins.

The Furiosa star admitted that a major reason for taking the Eilish photo was his children, who are fans of the singer.
“I was like, ‘No, my kids are going to love this.’ And then the moment I took it, I was like ‘I went from work colleague to now like a fan,'” he explained.
Feeling as though the dynamic had shifted from professional peer to admiring fan, he concluded: “We will never be friends, never be best friends.”
