The iconic actress starred in films including Annie HallThe First Wives Club, Something’s Gotta Give , and The Godfather, and leaves behind her two children, Dexter, 29, and Duke, 25, whom she welcomed through adoption when she was in her fifties.

An official cause of death has not been confirmed by authorities, but Keaton’s close friends revealed that her health had ‘declined’ in recent months.

In an interview with People, her longtime friend, Carole Bayer Sager, revealed that the 79-year-old had been impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.

The songwriter said: “I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin. She had lost so much weight.

“She had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside, and they had to clean everything.”

She added: “She was down there for a while, and when she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she’d lost.”

The devastated friend noted that Keaton was ‘a magic light for everyone,’ commenting: “She was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy.”
