Dolly Parton Announces Devastating News Aged 79
Dolly Parton has made a devastating announcement at the age of 79.
The ‘Jolene’ singer has endured a difficult year following the death of her husband of 58 years, Carl Dean, in March.
Parton said in the announcement of her husband’s passing: “Carl and I spent many wonderful years together.
“Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years.
“Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.”
Yet just yesterday (September 18), the singer made a saddening announcement of her own, giving fans an update on her health.
The iconic country singer was set to make an appearance at Dollywood, her theme park in Tennessee, U.S., but pulled out at the last minute.
The 79-year-old pre-recorded a video message for fans who were waiting to see her, explaining the sad news.
In the video message, she apologized for not being able to open one of the park’s new experiences.
During the clip, which was uploaded to X (formerly Twitter), the star said: “I know.
“I’m here, you’re there and you’re wondering why that is.
“Well, I had a little problem.”
Parton added: “I had a kidney stone, which was causing me a lot of problems.
“Turns out there was an infection and the doctor said, ‘you don’t need to be travelling around this minute.
“‘You need a few days to get better.'”
The 79-year-old continued: “So he suggested I don’t go to Dollywood today.
“I want to make this clear, I was looking so forward to it.”
In a reassuring message to fans, she concluded: “Don’t worry about me, I’m going to be okay.
“I just can’t do it today.”
Fans rushed to wish the star well in the comments of the clip, as one said: “Wishing Dolly a speedy recovery.
“Kidney stones are extremely painful. We love you, Dolly.”
Another added: “Oh no, I hope she’s okay.
“That’s so sad, especially after losing her husband.”
A third wrote: “She has been a ray of light her entire life. I wish her well and hope she is okay.”
Despite the ‘9 to 5’ singer’s superstar status, her husband, Carl, managed to stay out of the spotlight.
There was only ever a handful of pictures of the two together released, though she has always talked about their life together fondly.
Following his death, the country music icon made a devastating confession about the future of her work.
Speaking to Khloé Kardashian on her podcast, Dolly said: “There’s a few things.
“My husband passed away three months ago, so when you ask me if there’s stuff that I started and haven’t finished, several things I have wanted to start, but I can’t do it.”
