Elliot Page Reveals Heartbreaking Advice He’d Give To His Younger Self
Elliot Page has deeply moved fans by sharing the advice he would offer to his younger self, stirring emotions with his heartfelt words.
The actor, previously known as Ellen Page, publicly came out as transgender in 2020 and began his transition shortly thereafter.
Since then, Page has become a powerful advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, using his platform to promote acceptance and understanding.
In his memoir, Pageboy, he openly discusses the struggles he faced with his identity, including the profound shame he carried for years.
“Shame had been drilled into my bones since I was my tiniest self, and I struggled to rid my body of that old toxic and erosive marrow,” he candidly wrote, reflecting on the internalized negativity he worked to overcome.
Among the memories he shares in the book is his first experience kissing a girl, a moment that left a lasting impression.
Page recalls meeting Paula at the age of 20, describing her warmth and kindness: “Sitting on our friend’s couch, eating raw almonds with her knees to her chest, she introduced herself, ‘I’m Paula.’
“The sound of her voice radiated warmth, a kindness. It wasn’t so much that her eyes lit up but that they found you. I could feel her looking.”
He continues: “We went to Reflections. It was the first time I had been to a gay bar, and would be my last for a long time.”
With the challenges he has faced, Page was recently asked what advice he would give to his younger self.
His answer, shared in a video on the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Instagram page, resonated deeply with many.
Fans have praised the actor’s poignant words. One wrote: “What a peaceful, loving response. Such a king and role model.”
Another commented: “Thank you for living in your truth and liberating yourself… Your story could save a life.”
“My message to my younger self would be, just like, ‘You know who you are, and please embrace that,’” Page shared.
Expanding on this, he said: “I understood my truth. I felt it very strongly, and it was all of these external forces and noises that pushed and pulled, and made me sort of lose track of who I was.”
He added a powerful note to his younger self: “The discomfort and pain you’re feeling—that is not yours. That is theirs. And to just keep going on the journey of embracing who you truly are. That’s what’s going to lead you to happiness.”
