Yankees Star Brett Gardner’s 14-Year-Old Son Dies On Family Vacation
Former New York Yankees star Brett Gardner has announced that his 14-year-old son has tragically died.
Gardner was drafted by the Yankees in 2005 and spent his entire big league career with the team.
The outfielder played a total of 14 seasons, was named an All-Star in 2015, and won a Gold Glove Award in 2016.
Following an impressive sporting career, he retired at age 41.
He welcomed two sons, Miller and Hunter, with his wife, Jessica.
Tributes are now pouring in following the heartbreaking announcement of Miller’s passing.

One person writes: “The saddest statement a parent has to make. My deepest condolences to Brett and his beautiful family. Just heartbreaking.”
“So sorry to hear this. Unimaginable to lose a child,” another comments. “I met Brett and his sons, they were so kind. Such a horrible tragedy.”
“This is just so sad. He was so young. My prayers and deepest condolences go out to Brett and his family. May Miller rest in peace,” a third pens.
A fourth says: “I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. You are entitled to your privacy, and I hope you get it to mourn during this time.”

The Gardner family announced the devastating death of Miller in a statement through the Yankees’ official X (formerly known as Twitter) account.
It read: “With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of our youngest son, Miller.
“He was 14 years old and has left us far too soon after falling ill along with several other family members while on vacation.
“We have so many questions and so few answers at this point, but we do know that he passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21st.
“We are so thankful to all who have reached out to offer support and encouragement during this difficult time, and we are confident our faith, family, and friends will help us navigate this unimaginable loss.
“Our prayers go out to Miller’s teammates and friends, as well as to all other families who have lost a child far too soon as we share their grief.”
The Yankees followed this with a statement offering condolences to the family.

It read: “Our hearts are heavy, and the Yankees’ family is filled with grief after learning of the passing of Miller Gardner.
“Words feel insignificant and insufficient in trying to describe such an unimaginable loss. It wasn’t just Brett who literally grew up in this organization for more than 17 years – so did his wife, Jessica, and their two boys, Hunter and Miller.”
At the time of Miller’s death, the Gardner family were vacationing at a hotel in Manuel Antonio, a town on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast.
According to Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ), the whole family fell ill, which is likely to be a result of food poisoning.
Officials are still waiting for the results of toxicology tests to determine whether food poisoning was the cause of death.
The Gardner family has asked for privacy during this time.
