Former Miss Universe Contestant Has Died Aged 30
Former Miss Universe contestant Kseniya Alexandrova has died at the age of 30, only four months after her wedding.
The 30-year-old model competed in the 2017 Miss Universe pageant and was a well-known figure in her native Russia.
Her husband, Tver Oblast, was with her during the fatal accident, which ultimately led to her death.
The two had tied the knot just four months prior, and he managed to survive the freak incident.
But despite fighting for her life in hospital for over a month, the 30-year-old tragically passed away on August 12.
Alexandrova died in a car accident while her husband drove their $100k Porsche.
Speaking to Russian outlet RIA, husband Oblast said: “I didn’t have time to do anything.
“She was unconscious, her head was broken, everything was covered in blood.”
When driving the supercar, he noted that an elk jumped out in front of them.
Given the low front of their vehicle, the car collided with the legs of the animal, and the airbags failed to deploy.
Her husband noted: “From the moment it jumped out to the impact, a split second passed.
“The elk flew into the car. The blow hit Ksyusha in the head.”
Oblast said that both of the individuals in the car were wearing seatbelts, and the car wasn’t being driven fast.
Reflecting on the collision, he added: “The worst thing is that the frontal bones of the skull were broken.
“It was clear that there was an open head injury.”
Onlookers stopped and called an ambulance to the scene, which arrived in 15 minutes, and raced the Miss Universe contestant to hospital in Rzhev.
After briefly regaining consciousness, having been transported to Moscow for more intensive treatment, Oblast had hope that it wouldn’t be the end for his wife.
He said: “At first, they did not do a second operation.
“She could not speak because she was on a ventilator, but she was absolutely conscious.”
Surgeons then carried out a second operation, which initially proved to be successful, but the model then ‘suddenly plunged back into a coma.’
The newlywed husband said: “Meningitis was diagnosed, which turned into a more severe inflammatory brain disease.
“The tests began to deteriorate, it became blood sepsis.
“Once they were able to start the heart… but the next day Ksenia died – it was not possible to restart the heart.”
Tributes have since poured in following the death of the young woman, including a statement from Miss Universe.
The team has extended its ‘deepest and most heartfelt condolences’ to her family.
They wrote: “Her grace, beauty, and spirit left an unforgettable mark on the Miss Universe family and beyond.
“May her memory continue to inspire kindness, strength, and love in all those who were fortunate enough to know her.”
