Cuihua would regularly post on the social media app Douyin.
Douyin and TikTok are essentially the same app. They allow users to create, share, and view short videos.
However, they operate on different servers to comply with China’s internet laws, such as the cybersecurity law, which came into effect on June 1, 2017.
It was on Douyin that Cuihua’s family expressed their gratitude for the support and love received while grieving their loss.
They said via Insider: “Thank you to everyone for your support and love for Cuihua.
“Our child has gone to heaven, and we are still processing all of this.

“We hope that people won’t be misguided by malicious individuals for their entertainment, which could harm parents and family.
“Let our child rest in peace, thank you!”
They did not directly blame the fitness camp for their daughter’s death.
The cause of Cuihua’s death remains undisclosed, but her parents have mentioned that she had sought medical attention after feeling unwell following exercise.
According to news.com.au, Cuihua had been documenting her weight loss journey on social media, sharing her workouts and strict diet with her substantial following of nearly 10,000 followers.
Dexerto says her daily meals would consist of ‘coarse grains, cabbage, eggs, and fruit’.
According to The New York Post, Cuihua successfully lost 80 pounds (36kg) over an eight-month period.
In the first two months, she dropped 57 pounds, followed by an additional 23 pounds shed in the remaining six months.
Shocked followers of her weight loss journey expressed their dismay upon learning about her unfortunate passing.

Many of them left comments on Cuihua’s videos, urging her to proceed cautiously and not push herself too hard during her time at the camps.
One fan said (via News Corp): “You should take it slowly to keep your heart rate within the aerobic safety range.
“It can’t be high-intensity all at once, the heart and knees can’t stand it, and it is easy to die suddenly.”
Another added: “These coaches really don’t have any comprehensive knowledge, and they think they are all sports school trainees.”
According to Healthline, losing 1–2 pounds (0.45–0.9 kg) per week is a healthy and safe rate.
Losing more than that is considered too fast and could put you at risk of many health problems, including muscle loss, gallstones, nutritional deficiencies and a drop in metabolism.
