An influencer has died after being paid to drink a bottle of whiskey.

A tragic incident unfolded in Thailand when a 21-year-old influencer, Thankam Kanthee, known online as ‘Bank Leicester,’ passed away after accepting a dare to drink an entire bottle of whiskey.

The challenge, reportedly worth 30,000 Thai baht (approximately $875), led to Kanthee’s untimely death due to alcohol poisoning.

Kanthee, who was known for participating in extreme dares to earn money for his family, had previously completed challenges such as consuming hand sanitizer and eating large amounts of wasabi.

On the night of December 26, during a birthday party in the town of Chanthaburi, he took on the fatal task of downing a 350ml bottle of alcohol.

Party attendees were seen laughing and cheering him on as he accepted the challenge.

However, the situation took a grim turn when he began vomiting shortly afterward.

At approximately 3:40 a.m. local time, Kanthee lost consciousness.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but medical staff were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead.

His passing has sparked widespread shock and grief, particularly among his social media followers, who admired his daring stunts.

One fan expressed sorrow, commenting: “I feel sorry for you, brother. The person who let you drink alcohol must be guilty forever.”

Another wrote: “Rest in peace, Bank. I wish you get justice. At least there must be someone to take care of grandmother instead of you as you wanted. RIP.”

Authorities in Chanthaburi have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kanthee’s death.

The focus has been on Ekkachart ‘Em’ Meephrom, who organized the birthday party where the incident occurred.

Meephrom has been charged with causing death through negligence, a crime punishable under Thailand’s penal code with up to 10 years in prison, a fine of 200,000 baht, or both.

According to police statements, Meephrom surrendered voluntarily and admitted to the charges.

The local court denied him bail, and he is currently being held in custody for at least 12 days while investigations continue.

The party was reportedly held in honor of Meephrom’s mother the day after Christmas.
