Snooki Reveals Heartbreaking Cancer Diagnosis
Snooki has revealed that she is currently battling cancer.
The 38-year-old star of Jersey Shore shared the news with her fans via TikTok on Friday.
Snooki took to social media following a post-op appointment last week and urged her followers, in a nearly eight-minutes long video, to make the same appointment she had.
Snooki’s rise to fame
Snooki, real name Nicole Polizzi, rose to fame as a reality TV star on MTV’s Jersey Shore between 2009 and 2012.
After finding success through Jersey Shore, which even saw Polizzi appear in a match alongside WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at WrestleMania 27, in 2011, Snooki gained her own spin-off show from Jersey Shore, called Snooki & Jwoww.

Jwoww, another cast member from Jersey Shore, real name Jennifer Farley, lived with Snooki on the show, which was described by the two co-stars as a modern-day Laverne & Shirley – the Happy Days spinoff that ran for eight seasons on ABC in the late 1970’s/early 1980’s.
At the height of Jersey Shore’s popularity in the early 2010’s, Snooki was reportedly earning $150,000 per episode.
What has Snooki been up to in recent years?
Snooki has not been as prominent a fixture on television in the last few years. However, she still retains a pretty gargantuan social media following, with 17 million followers on Instagram and over 61 million likes on TikTok.
The Jersey Shore universe has still occupied a significant amount of Polizzi’s time, with Jersey Shore: Family Vacation still running since premiering in 2018.

In addition to this, Snooki has appeared in Floribama Shore (2021), All Star Shore (2023), and, most recently, this year’s newest addition, Canada Shore.
Away from the Shore, however, Snooki has tested herself on the Celebrity Apprentice and Celebrity Fear Factor. She served as the host of comedy clip show Messyness for two seasons in 2021 and 2022 on MTV.
Snooki makes cancer revelation
On Friday, February 20, Snooki revealed on TikTok that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
Taking to the social media video platform, the reality TV star revealed that a post-op appointment for a cone biopsy – a procedure that removes a cone-shaped piece of cervical tissue to determine if there are any precancerous cells present – discovered a stage one cervical cancer called adenocarcinoma.
Despite the diagnosis, Snooki was remaining upbeat, relieved that the cancer had been caught in the very early stages.

In the almost eight-minute video, she said: “Obviously not the news that I was hoping for, but also not the worst news just because they caught it so early. Thank freaking God!
“That’s why I’m literally telling you guys to get your pap smears done. I’m 38 years old … and now look at me. And instead of just putting it off because I didn’t want to go and it hurt and I was scared, no, I just went and did it. And it was there, cancer is in there. But it’s only stage 1 and it’s curable.”
In January, Snooki shared that she needed a colposcopy and biopsy, also via TikTok.
The reality star has also confirmed that she has a PET scan scheduled soon, which will determine whether there is cancer present elsewhere in her body.
Snooki added during her TikTok revelation: “A lot of women go through it silently without anyone to talk to and they’re scared by themselves. And that was me until I decided to upload the video about what was happening with me.”
Outpouring of support follows cancer announcement
Support and well-wishes came thick and fast on various social media platforms for the 38-year-old.
The official Jersey Shore account on X (formerly Twitter) posted: “Our girl Snooki has always been strong, and she’s facing this with that same strength and honesty.
“We’re sending all the love and support to our meatball as she takes this battle on she’s not in this alone. We’re all rooting for you, Snooks.”
The comments sections were loaded with fans sending their regards, with one user on X replying: “Praying for you snookie” and another adding: “Sending all the love and support your way meatball”.
A third commenter on X posted: “Praying for you Snooki! Hopefully you will get this taken care of quickly and be back to being a meatball before you know it. Lots of love and healing energy!”
Fellow Jersey Shore co-star Mike The Situation posted a picture of the pair together, alongside the caption: “Sending prayers full of love, promotion and healing to our girl Snooki.”
Signs and symptoms of cervical cancer
The American Cancer Society reports that just over 13,000 cervical cancer cases are diagnosed across the US each year.
The death rate for the disease has dropped by more than half since the 1970s due to screening and prevention, according to the ACS.
Early signs of cervical cancer often involve unusual v**inal bleeding between periods or after intercourse, with pain and discomfort during intercourse also being a common symptom.
Other potential symptoms can also include heavier or longer periods, fatigue, weight loss, swelling of the legs, and persistent pain in the lower back, pelvis, and lower abdomen.
Famous cervical cancer survivors
Snooki is far from the first celebrity to be diagnosed with cervical cancer, however.
Notable famous survivors include sportscaster Erin Andrews, author Judy Blume, fashion designer Liz Lange, Real Housewives star Tamra Barney, and Saturday Night Live alum Julia Sweeney, who developed one woman show ‘God Said, “Ha!”’ about her experience with cancer.
