Kim Kardashian Almost ‘Cried’ Because Marilyn Monroe’s Dress ‘Didn’t Fit’ Her
Kim Kardashian has admitted that she almost ‘cried’ when trying on Marilyn Monroe’s iconic ‘Happy Birthday Mr President’ dress for the Met Gala, as it apparently ‘didn’t fit’.
The 41-year-old walked the event’s red carpet in the icon’s handstitched crystal gown which was apparently last worn in the early 1960s.
Chatting to Vogue, Kardashian recalled the moment she tried it on for the first time, and how it didn’t quite fit how she expected it to.

The mum-of-four told the fashion bible: “I always thought she [Marilyn] was extremely curvy. I imagined I might be smaller in some places where she was bigger and bigger in places where she was smaller.
“So when it didn’t fit me I wanted to cry because it can’t be altered at all.”
Elsewhere in the chat, Kardashian insisted that she didn’t ‘starve’ herself to fit into the gown. Instead, she explained how she went on a strict ‘diet’.
“I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein. I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict,” she insisted.

After hearing how the SKIMs owner made herself fit into the gown, many have taken to social media and blasted the star for ‘promoting unrealistic body standards’.
One tweeted: “Kim Kardashian really be out here telling people it’s fine to crash diet and lose 7kg/16lb in three weeks. This isn’t something to brag about, Kim.”
Another added: “Kim Kardashian proudly saying she went on an extreme diet to lose a stone in three weeks to fit into a dress she was only allowed to wear for less than 10 minutes is frankly disgusting and irresponsible and unhinged but hey what do I know.”
