Kristen Bell’s ‘Disgusting’ Anniversary Post To Husband Dax Shepherd Sparks Outrage
Kristen Bell has received backlash after posting a ‘disgusting’ anniversary message to her husband, Dax Shepherd.
The American actress has been called out after posting what some people have branded a ‘tone deaf’ message to her husband on Instagram for their anniversary.
The couple were celebrating 12 years together on Saturday (October 18), after tying the knot in 2013.
In the Instagram post, Bell can be seen with her legs wrapped around the Parenthood star, as he pulls her close to him.
But it wasn’t the snap that caused a stir with users, it’s what was written in the caption.
The pair began dating back in 2007, and share two daughters; Lincoln (March 2013) and Delta (December 2014).
The two have become one of Hollywood’s most outspoken couples, known for their candid discussions about therapy, parenting, and marriage.
Speaking on a podcast last year about Shepherd, the 45-year-old said: “He’s so protective, he’s so loyal, he’s curious, he’s constantly researching things to get new perspective, he challenges himself, he’s self-critical.”
But it seems the post celebrating their 12 years together didn’t go down too well with users on the platform.
“May this type of relationship never find me,” one said.
As another wrote: “What an odd thing to say.”
“Crazy thing to joke about honestly,” a third said. “Sincerely, someone who thankfully survived.”
A fourth remarked: “Tone deaf and insensitive.”
In agreement, somebody else said: “This is vile.”
But others didn’t find an issue with the post and defended the couple.
One said: “To all the people who are criticizing this post, get lost, get a life, leave them alone! Your crazy and sensitive over everything.”
Another noted: “I love the caption, it fits both of their personalities, everyone is so soft nowadays.”
“Get off the internet if this triggers you,” someone else wrote.
Others questioned whether it was Bell or one of their daughters in the photo.
The caption that has sparked outrage read: “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: I would never kill you.
“A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would.”
While some noted that it was clearly a showcase of the couple’s dark humor, others noted that it wasn’t appropriate during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
One wrote: “Domestic violence isn’t a joke.”
A second questioned: “Is this… supposed to be funny?”
