The little boy in this photo had no idea he would go on to be one of the most successful and richest celebrities in the world.
Despite his wealth and success, not many people would recognize who he is at first glance.
It’s a classic childhood photo in black and white, as a young boy of eight years old turns and smiles for the camera.
Little did he know that there would be many more photos taken over his life, as he would end up being the richest celebrity on the planet.
According to Forbes, this little boy is now worth a staggering $5.3 billion.
Yes, you read that right, $5.3 billion.
Any guesses who he is? For that sort of money you might assume an A-list actor, a football legend or a rockstar.
You’d be wrong.
He’s now worth more than George Lucas, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey and Kim Kardashian.
He works in movies, but prefers to be behind the camera instead of in front.
If you’ve ever watched Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones, and Jurassic Park then you’re familiar with his work.
It’s also reported he receives a 2% share of ticket sales from the Universal Studios theme parks, and with the opening of the incredible new Epic Park there he is sure to be earning even more cash for the foreseeable future.
He started making amateur films while in his teens, after finding his talent at an early age.
He went on to study film at California State University, Long Beach.
The movie buff went on to be the youngest director ever to sign a long-term deal with a major Hollywood studio in 1969, after his twenty-two-minute short Amblin was shown at the Atlanta Film Festival.
According to ScreenRant, his first-ever movie made a profit of just $1.
The talented teenager made Firelight with a $500 budget at the age of just 17.
His ticket sales from the one-night showing brought in $501.
That young boy is none other then Steven Spielberg, the iconic director who is responsible for some of the biggest blockbusters around.
It’s clearly a lucrative business to be worth that much money, with Spielberg regularly breaking records for box office takings, and then breaking his own records once more.
His movies have gone on to rake in more than $10 billion at the box office.
His highest grossing film is Jurassic Park, which earned $1.058 billion, with E.T. in second with $797.3 million, and Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull in third at $786.6 million.
Not all of his finest works have made the big money though, as the likes of Schindler’s List, Raiders Of The Lost Ark and Catch Me If You Can all fail to break into the top 10 earners.
He first appeared on Forbes list of the wealthiest Americans in 1994, so has been raking in the big bucks for decades.
