Mia Khalifa Says She Was Disowned By Her Family After She Went Into Adult Films
Former adult star Mia Khalifa has shared that she was disowned by her parents after they found out about her move into the industry.
Mia Khalifa, 29, was only in the industry for three months and during that time, she claims to have only made $12,000.
However, the Lebenase-American star’s decision had a lasting impact – as she’s received death threats and has even been disowned by her parents.

In an interview with BBC’s HARDTalk, interviewer Stephen Sackur asks Khalifa whether her family had had any idea what she was doing, to which she responds: “No.”
Khalifa adds: “And they disowned me when they found out.
“I felt completely alienated by not just the world, but my family and the people around me. Especially after I quit, when I was still alone, even after I left. And I just realised some mistakes aren’t forgivable.
“But time heals all wounds, and things are getting better now.”
Khalifa and her parents relocated from Lebanon to the US in 2001 and the ex-adult star was educated in America. She would go to the University of Texas and study history.
The 29-year-old, who has a stable background, says she decided to do p*** as it was something ‘so out of character’ and ‘so out of bounds’. She also suffered from a lack of self-esteem.
“I don’t think low self-esteem discriminates against anyone,” Khalifa explains. “It doesn’t matter if you come from a great family of if you come from a not-so-great background.
“I struggled my entire childhood with weight and I never felt attractive or worthy of male attention, and suddenly my first year of college I started losing all this weight from making small changes and by the time I was graduated, I was ready to make a bigger difference.”

Khalifa adds: “After feeling what it was like – the validation and the compliments for the first time – I did not want that to go away.”
Elsewhere, in an interview with the Daily Beast, the former adult star said she was ‘approached at a very vulnerable point in my life’.
She recalled: “I went back and shot a scene, and it was terrifying and temporarily validating, but afterwards I felt a little empty.
“Though I still had that pit in my stomach where I wanted to chase that validation again… I think what made me go back and do it again was the attention I was receiving, I was afraid it would go away if I didn’t do what I was asked to do.”
