Michael Jordan Sparks Outrage Over ‘Inappropriate’ Act: ‘Straight To Jail’
Michael Jordan is being criticized online after what some viewers called an ‘inappropriate’ celebration following his Daytona 500 win earlier this year.
The six-time NBA champion officially added Daytona 500 winner to his long list of achievements on February 15.
Tyler Reddick claimed victory in ‘The Great American Race’ after a dramatic final lap at Daytona International Speedway, delivering Jordan and his team a milestone first win.
The 30-year-old driver from Corning, California, secured his ninth Cup Series victory and his first since the closing stages of the 2024 season.
Jordan became co-owner of 23XI Racing alongside Denny Hamlin back in 2021, and the team now operates three cars.
After the race, Reddick said: “It’s stuff you dream of as a kid.
“Now, I definitely didn’t look into the future and know that I would drive for Michael Jordan. But to be able to have someone like Michael Jordan believe in me enough, someone like Denny Hamlin.
“I’m just trying to do my best to live on the promises that I made to them and vice versa.”
A dream victory for Jordan and Reddick
“I can’t even believe it, it was so gratifying,” Jordan said during a post-race interview.
“You never know how these races are going to end. You just try to survive.
“We hung in there all day. Great strategy by the team, and we gave ourselves a chance at the end. Look, I’m ecstatic.”
Before entering the NASCAR world, Jordan had already cemented himself as one of the greatest athletes of all time.
With six NBA championships, five MVP awards, and a relentless competitive edge, he helped redefine basketball excellence.
His influence stretched far beyond the court, helping transform the NBA into a global powerhouse while also building the hugely successful Air Jordan brand with Nike.
There’s little doubt that his legacy continues to set the benchmark in the sport.
Jordan, who celebrates his 63rd birthday on Tuesday, is also set to receive a Daytona 500 championship ring — and he made sure everyone knew he wears a size 13.
Following the race, he joked: “It feels like I won a championship, but until I get my ring, I won’t even know.”

Social media reacts to the viral moment
After the celebrations, social media quickly erupted as hundreds of users criticized the NBA icon over what many described as an ‘inappropriate’ interaction with a child believed to be Reddick’s young son, Beau.
One user sparked the backlash by posting: “Interesting celebration choice by Michael Jordan after winning the Daytona 500.”
“After the week we just had…this is NOT a good look,” another wrote, while a third added: “Yo what did I just witness.”
“MJ ruined his entire legacy in only 23 seconds,” another user claimed, while someone else commented: “Straight to jail.”
Fans rush to defend the NBA icon
Despite the criticism, many people online defended Jordan and argued the moment had been taken out of context.
“Give it a rest! The kid is wet,” one person responded.
Another explained: “Everyone got doused in champagne. The boy said he was itchy, and Michael Jordan was helping the poor kid out.
“He’s pulling the shirt away and then he scratches the boy’s leg. I know that the Epstein files are out and people are on edge, but this ain’t it, folks. Grow up.”
A third added: “Tyler Reddick is the driver and this is Tyler’s son. Champagne had just been poured on everyone and the son said it was making him itch.”

What Michael Jordan did during the celebration
In the now-viral clip, Jordan can be seen reaching toward the child during the post-race celebration, touching his legs and bottom while also tugging at his T-shirt.
From certain camera angles, it appears as though Jordan is pinching near the child’s lower back.
As the footage continues circulating online, neither Jordan nor 23XI Racing has publicly commented on the moment.
The incident has since overshadowed what would otherwise have been a historic achievement for the organization.
