Millie Bobby Brown is one of Hollywood’s rising stars and despite being 19 years old, she’s already had a stellar career. However, it’s not always been smooth sailing for the teenager.

The Stranger Things star, who is engaged to Jake Bongiovi, has starred in blockbuster hits such as the Godzilla franchise, as well as Netflix’s Enola Holmes films.

Brown also is the founder of the beauty brand Florence by Mills, which stocks a range of beauty and skincare products.

And while many of the Damsel actress fans will know all this, they won’t know that it hasn’t always been easy for the star.

Brown’s career has actually been impacted by her hearing. Let’s find out more below:

Is Millie Bobby Brown deaf?

Brown is deaf in one ear.

The actress says she doesn’t always hear the director’s ‘action’ cue when shooting a scene – unless they’re loud.

This hasn’t stopped her from exploring her singing abilities.

Brown says although she can’t fully hear herself perform, it isn’t going to stop her.

She told Variety in 2017: “I just started to sing, and if I sound bad I don’t care, because I’m just doing what I love.

“You don’t have to be good at singing. You don’t have to be good at dancing or acting. If you like to do it, if you genuinely enjoy doing it, then do it. No one should stop you.”

How did Millie Bobby Brown become deaf?

The Florence by Mills founder was born with partial hearing loss, eventually progressing into full deafness.

When playing Eleven – who didn’t talk much – Brown said she had to make use of her other senses.

“You can talk with your face,” she explains.

“It’s very easy for someone to say, ‘I’m mad. I’m sad. I’m angry’. I have to just do it with my face.”
