Valdez was incarcerated at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad, California.
The ‘Whole Time’ rapper had been sentenced to prison on gun charges in Riverside County – and had more legal trouble approaching after being hit with another gun charge from Los Angeles County.
Prison officials have announced that they are investigating his death as a homicide.
According to TMZ, Valdez died as a result of a stabbing attack.
He was reported missing during a headcount on Tuesday night at around 9:55pm and was later found unresponsive in another part of the prison, where CPR was then attempted.

Valdez was pronounced dead at 10:20pm.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has restricted the movement of prisoners since Valdez’s passing.
The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office is currently investigating the matter while the Monterey County Coroner works to determine the exact cause of Valdez’s death.
Valdez’s attorney, Nicholas Rosenberg, says in a statement to The Los Angeles Times that his client was allegedly stabbed in the neck while taking a shower.
According to a prisoner – who spoke to the outlet anonymously – the rapper was discovered in a part of the prison housing general population prisoners.
This is apparently unusual, as rappers are usually housed in the sensitive-needs yard reserved for prisoners with specific safety concerns or public profiles.
However, it remains unclear if Valdez’s profile was high enough to warrant such protection as he was still in the early stages of his career.
Despite his lengthy prison sentence, Valdez had already pleaded out on the charge and was expected to receive a two-year prison sentence, which he would likely serve concurrently with his earlier sentence.
He surrendered himself in December 2022.
Valdez had recently signed with Atlantic Records, boosting his career, and the label released his most recent album ‘Parkside Baby’ in September 2022.
