Netflix Star Kim Sae-ron Found Dead Aged 24
Netflix star Kim Sae-ron has tragically died aged 24.
Sae-ron made her acting debut at nine years old, rising to fame with roles in the 2010 action movie The Man from Nowhere and the 2012 thriller The Neighbor.
She later landed her debut adult role in the TV drama Secret Healer and starred in the thriller The Villagers.
Sae-ron’s final performance was in the Netflix Korean drama series Bloodhounds.
Following the devastating announcement of the star’s passing, tributes have poured in on social media.
One fan says: “Just watched Bloodhounds, and I thought why she does not have new projects, and suddenly heard about her death. Very shocking news for me.”
Another writes: “She was my top Korean actress idol, compared to the other Korean artists. Her movie/series from her child to her last show, I watch them all.”
“Omg, this is so sad,” a third pens. “Heartbreaking. May she rest in eternal peace.”
A fourth person comments: “The first drama I ever watched from her was High School-Love On. She was one of my favorite actresses. And I was still waiting for her next drama…. RIP.”
Sae-ron faced a personal and professional setback in May 2022.
The star drove under the influence in Seoul’s Gangnam District, resulting in property damage and a 20 million won ($13,850) fine.
In a statement, Sae-ron said: “Hello. This is Kim Sae Ron. First, after getting the accident and damage affairs in order, I apologize for releasing my statement so late.
“Yesterday, on May 18 at 8 a.m., I caused an accident damaging public property in Gangnam. I made a big mistake in a drunken state at the time.”
The star continued: “Although I needed to act more prudently and with more responsibility, I wasn’t able to do so. I sincerely apologize.
“I am currently working with my agency to fix the damages caused by the accident and I will do my best to actively communicate and resolve this until the end.
“I once again deeply apologize. I am sorry for causing an inconvenience. I have no excuses for this unfortunate incident and I feel so ashamed and disappointed in myself for the mistake I made.
“I will deeply reflect and reflect again to ensure that something like this never happens again. I’m sorry.”
Following the incident, Sae-ron took a step back from acting to reflect and focus on health concerns.
She withdrew from the series Trolley and most of her role in Bloodhound was edited out after the DUI incident, reports Variety.
Yonhap reports that Sae-ron attempted to return to acting last year but later removed herself again due to health issues.

According to The New York Times, Seoul police say Sae-ron died by s**cide.
Yonhap reports that a friend discovered her body at her home on Sunday after the actress failed to attend a scheduled meeting.
