Phillip Schofield Says He’s Leaving This Morning ‘With Immediate Effect’
Phillip Schofield has announced that he is leaving This Morning.
The TV presenter, 61, is known for presenting shows such as Dancing on Ice and The Cube.
Although, he is best known for co-hosting This Morning – which he has done for 21 years.
However, he has announced that he is leaving the daytime showh ‘with immediate effect’.

In a message shared on his Instagram story, Schofield informed fans about his decision.
His statement reads: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind.
“I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me – especially This Morning’s amazing viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month.”
This Morning is an extremely popular programme and is the most-watched daytime show on a commercial channel.
It covers a wide range of topics including celebrity interviews, entertainment news, current affairs discussions, a look at sports competitions, health columns, cooking tips and tricks, and more.
Co-host Holly Willoughby – who has presented with Schofield for 13 years – has now spoken out about his departure.
On her Instagram story, she pens: “Hi everyone … It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.”
She adds that ‘the sofa won’t feel the same without him’.
ITV has also issued a statement about Schofield stepping back – where the channel has announced that the episode on May 18 was his last.

It reads: “After more than 20 years on the This Morning sofa, Phillip Schofield has stepped back from ITV’s flagship morning show having presented his last episode on Thursday 18 May.”
It does mention however that Schofield will continue to present peak time shows for ITV – including next month’s The British Soap Awards as well as a new prime time series.
Willougby will continue to host the show along with other co-presenters until a full-time replacement is found.
