Bettencourt Meyers is the only daughter of André and Liliane Bettencourt.
Her mother was the sole heiress to her father’s empire. Eugène Schueller was the French chemist who founded L’Oreal, a leading company in the cosmetics and beauty industry.
The brand has remained successful by acquiring other brands such as Lancôme in 1964, CeraVe in 2017, and IT Cosmetics in 2016.
Liliane was once the richest woman in the world before she died in 2017; her daughter Bettencourt Meyers then stepped into the jaw-dropping inheritance.
Since inheriting her wealth, L’Oréal’s stock has soared, pushing her wealth into the stratosphere.
Forbes reports that Bettencourt Meyers and her family own more than a third of the publicly traded beauty giant.
The 72-year-old has served on the board since 1997 but announced in February that she would retire in 2025, handing over control to her son, Jean-Victor Meyers.
