Snoop Dogg’s family has issued a heartbreaking update after the tragic death of his 10-month-old granddaughter.

Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has been a towering figure in hip-hop for over three decades.

Since bursting onto the scene in 1992 with his distinctive laid-back flow and smooth West Coast sound, the 54-year-old rapper has sold over 35 million albums worldwide and become one of the most recognizable faces in entertainment.

From his debut album ‘Doggystyle’ to countless collaborations with Dr. Dre, his evolution from gangsta rap pioneer to mainstream cultural icon has been remarkable.

Yet behind the public persona and commercial success lies a devoted family man who has always kept his loved ones close to his heart.

Family at the core

Snoop Dogg married his high school sweetheart, Shante Broadus, in 1997, and despite brief separations, the couple has remained together for 28 years.

Together they share four children: sons Corde, 31, Cordell, 28, and Julian, 27 (from a previous relationship), and daughter Cori, 26.

The rapper has always been open about the importance of family in his life, frequently sharing moments with his children and grandchildren on social media.

His youngest daughter, Cori, has faced her own health challenges throughout her life.

Diagnosed with lupus at age six, she has been open about her struggles with the chronic autoimmune disease that can affect multiple organ systems.

Despite these challenges, Cori has pursued her own path in music and entertainment, all while managing her health condition, MailOnline reports.

A premature birth

In February 2025, Cori and her fiancé, photographer Wayne Deuce, 33, welcomed their first child, a daughter they named Codi Dreaux.

However, the joy of new parenthood was immediately complicated by serious medical challenges. Codi was born extremely premature at just 25 weeks of gestation, three months before her due date, USA Today reports.

The early birth was related to Cori’s diagnosis with HELLP syndrome, a severe pregnancy complication and form of preeclampsia.

HELLP stands for Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes, and Low Platelets. This life-threatening condition affects multiple organ systems and poses serious risks to both mother and baby.

According to the Mayo Clinic, immediate delivery is often recommended when HELLP syndrome is diagnosed, even if the baby is not at full term.

For Cori, who already navigated the challenges of lupus, the pregnancy was classified as high-risk from the start.

In her February announcement about Codi’s premature birth, she wrote with raw honesty: “I’ve cried and cried, I’ve compared and compared, blaming myself that I wasn’t able to give her all that she needed. Thank You God for getting me this far no matter the odds that are constantly thrown against me.”

Baby Codi spent the next ten months in the neonatal intensive care unit, where she received around-the-clock specialized care.

During this extended NICU stay, which totaled over 300 days, Cori remained devoted to her daughter’s side, sharing updates and asking for prayers from her social media followers.

In September 2025, Cori spoke to Us Weekly about her daughter’s resilience: “That girl is so feisty. She’s so resilient and strong. She just has so much character. The doctors and nurses always tell me, ‘Your baby got her mind. She’s smart. She’s alert. She knows what’s going on.’ That girl is just a sweet little firecracker.”

Devastating news

On January 6, 2026, the family finally received the news they had been praying for: Codi was stable enough to come home.

Cori celebrated the milestone on Instagram, writing: “She’s home. Thank you for every prayer, every message, every ounce of love. God heard them all.”

Yet the joy of finally having Codi home was tragically short-lived.

Just 20 days after leaving the NICU, on Monday, January 26, 2026, baby Codi passed away at 10 months old.

On January 31, Cori shared the heartbreaking news with her followers, posting a black-and-white photo of herself cradling her baby daughter with the simple, devastating caption: “Monday, I lost the love of my life. My Codi.”

Wayne Deuce also took to Instagram to express his grief: “I been the saddest since u left me Codi Dreaux. But I know u at peace. Daddy will always love you. My baby.”

One of Codi’s NICU nurses shared her own heartbreak, writing: “I been sad for 6 days straight. Being a nurse has its ups and downs and this is the biggest down I ever experienced. It was such a pleasure being mybabygirls nurse. I gave her one last bath told her I loved her and didn’t even know I was getting her ready for Heaven.”

A memorial service

Following Codi’s death, the Broadus family came together to honor the baby’s brief but meaningful life. On Saturday, February 8, 2026, they held a memorial service where Cori delivered an emotional tribute to her daughter, The Sun reports.

In footage shared on social media, Cori spoke through tears about the profound loss: “I don’t understand why this happened. I’m trusting God, but that doesn’t mean it makes sense to me. Some days I’m wondering if this world was just too cruel for someone as pure as you; other days, I wonder, how am I supposed to live in a world without you in my arms, Codi?”

She continued with the dreams every parent holds: “I am devastated knowing I didn’t get all the time to teach you all of the things I wanted to teach you. I wanted to show you how to be kind in a hard world; how to be brave when life feels unfair; how to love yourself fiercely. I wanted to watch you take your first step; celebrate your first birthday; walk you to your first day of school.”

Adding a touch of lightness to the heavy moment, Cori said: “I wanted to hear about your first crush, and secretly hope you wouldn’t change them every week like I did.”

On Sunday, February 9, Cori posted a carousel of memorial images to Instagram, captioned: “Part of me went with you, my girl for life.”

The post included photos from the service showing Cori sitting peacefully at her daughter’s gravesite, embracing family members, and cartoon depictions of Codi.

Snoop Dogg, who had remained relatively quiet on social media following the loss, broke his silence on January 31 by posting a photo of himself with Cori and his sons Corde and Cordell.

Cordell also showed support for his younger sister, reposting the family photo with the message: “Lil sis, we got you forever.”
