Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement has officially broken the internet, but is it the most-liked Instagram post of all time?

Since the announcement was shared online, social media has been filled nonstop with news of their relationship.

The pop star and the NFL player are the true definition of a Hollywood powerhouse couple.

The post, featuring Kelce down on one knee, quickly racked up millions of likes and comments, becoming one of the fastest-spreading celebrity updates in recent memory – even President Donald Trump reacted.

Swift, 35, and Kelce, also 35, have been together publicly since 2023.

The football star attended an Eras show at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City and later, he shared on his podcast New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason, that he’d hoped to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it.

He didn’t get the chance, but this revelation caused mass intrigue with fans and celebrities who hoped they’d get together.

The couple has since gone public with their relationship, with Swift regularly attending his football games and he at her shows.

Now, their engagement announcement has officially gone down in Instagram history.

Of course, Swifties have been dissecting the post and uncovering the hidden meaning behind each word and its emoji.

Captioned ‘Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,’ it fits in with Swift being a world-famous songwriter and Kelce being a world-famous athlete, which is fitting for an English teacher and a gym teacher.

Not only this, but since the pair began dating, constant memes have been made – likening them to a small-town English teacher who falls in love with the school’s football coach, drawing comparisons to the TV show Friday Night Lights.

Fans were also left confused by the post, as Swift and Kelce used a TNT explosive dynamite emoji.

Some thought it was an odd choice, especially as the recent Netflix drama, Adolescence, explored the meanings of certain emojis – uncovering that the dynamite emoji can actually be interpreted as ‘exploding red pill,’ meaning that someone is an incel.

Puzzled, one follower wrote: “I didn’t understand why at first.”

Another said: “Okay, but I need to know what the dynamite emoji means in her post.”

It turns out, it actually has a rather sweet meaning behind it – it stands for ‘Taylor and Travis.’

“Realizing that Taylor Swift used the emoji because their couple initials are T&T,” shared one surprised fan.

The engagement announcement racked up more than 14 million likes in its first hour and hit one million reposts in just six hours, according to Meta, making it one of the most-shared posts in the platform’s history.

The photo has since surged past 30 million likes, smashing Swift’s own personal Instagram record and cementing it as one of the most-liked posts ever shared by a female celebrity.

While it doesn’t surpass Lionel Messi’s 2022 World Cup celebration – which remains the all-time Instagram leader with more than 74 million likes – Swift and Kelce’s announcement now sits comfortably among the platform’s most viral posts of all time.

So while it’s not the most liked post on Instagram, it has made history.

And speaking of the top 10 most liked posts, coming in at 10 is the last and only post the late rapper XXXTentacion made, who was fatally shot in May 2018, with 34 million likes.

From there, football legend Cristiano Ronaldo racked up an impressive 35.7 million likes, with a topless reel followed by pianist Emil Reinert, who posted a three-year-old girl singing a cover of Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On,’ which reached 37.1 million likes.

Footballer Lionel Messi posing with the World Cup Trophy from 2022 with 41.2 million likes, then onto a joint post of Ronaldo and Messi, which drew in 41.6 million likes, and a reel of a young girl gained 44.5 million likes.

A young singer, Kishore Mondal, hit 48.9 million likes as he sang the Hindi song ‘Jeene Laga Hoon.’

Once again, Messi comes on the list at number three, with a photo of him sleeping next to the World Cup Trophy with 53.7 million likes.

In the second spot is the viral world record egg, which Chris Godfrey set as an attempt to become the most liked photo on Instagram, which at the time, was a post from Kylie Jenner, which had 18 million likes – the egg won with 60.5 million likes.

In first place, by no surprise, is another Messi post, which has garnered a mind-blowing 74.5 million likes. The photo, from Dec. 18, 2022, was his first after Argentina won the World Cup over France.

With the number of likes for Swift’s and Kelce’s engagement going up every second, they could very well make it into Instagram’s hall of fame for most liked post.
