Taylor Swift fans are turning against Travis Kelce after comments he made triggered major backlash online.
The singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end have been one of the most talked-about celebrity couples in the world ever since they confirmed their relationship in 2023.

Fans loved the crossover between pop culture and sports, while critics argued the attention surrounding the couple became excessive.

The controversy began shortly before the 2025 Super Bowl when reporters asked Kelce about Donald Trump attending the game.
Given Swift’s well-known political views and her history with Trump, many fans were already curious about how Kelce would respond.
Swift has openly criticized Trump multiple times over the years and publicly endorsed Democratic candidates, including Kamala Harris during the last election cycle.
Trump himself has repeatedly targeted Swift publicly.
After her political endorsements gained attention, the former president famously declared that he ‘hates Taylor Swift,’ reigniting tension between Swift supporters and conservative commentators online.
Because of that history, many fans expected Kelce to distance himself carefully from Trump altogether.
Instead, social media exploded after clips of his answer began circulating online.
One furious fan wrote: “Any self-respecting man doesn’t say something like that about someone who has been this disgusting to your partner. Taylor should dump his a**.”
Others accused Kelce of prioritizing football diplomacy over defending Swift.

Others defend Travis Kelce
Not everyone agreed with the outrage.
Many fans argued that Kelce was clearly attempting to remain politically neutral during one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
Supporters pointed out that professional athletes are often encouraged to avoid controversial political statements, particularly ahead of events like the Super Bowl.
Others noted that Kelce never actually praised Trump personally or discussed politics at all.
One fan defended him online by writing: “People are massively overreacting. He gave the safest answer imaginable.”
Another added: “He literally said ‘no matter who the president is.’ That’s neutrality, not support.”
Some people also argued that criticizing Trump publicly at the Super Bowl could have created even bigger headlines and potentially placed more attention and pressure on Swift herself.
Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes made similar remarks about Trump attending the game.
“It’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president,” Mahomes said. “Someone that is at the top position in our country.”
Meanwhile, reports later suggested Swift herself was completely unbothered by the situation.
According to an insider who spoke to the Daily Mail, the singer understood Kelce’s position and was not upset by his remarks.
“Taylor is not angry at Travis for what he said,” the source claimed.
They added: “He was speaking on behalf of his team and fans, and he would have said the same thing regardless of who the president was.”
Despite the backlash online, Swift and Kelce have continued appearing together publicly in recent months.
The engaged couple recently enjoyed a romantic trip to London, attended theater performances together, and were photographed on multiple date nights throughout the city.
On his New Heights podcast, Kelce later described the trip as ‘phenomenal,’ praising both the food and the experiences they shared together overseas.
Still, none of that stopped social media from obsessing over the controversy surrounding his Super Bowl comments.
And the remarks that sparked the outrage were these:
“It’s a great honor, no matter who the president is,” Kelce said before adding: “I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world so it’d be pretty cool.”
