Tyreek Hill snapped his leg during brutal NFL footage that viewers say they can’t unsee.

The Miami Dolphins wide receiver suffered a horrific leg injury during Monday Night Football that left players from both teams in visible shock and viewers struggling to process what they witnessed.

The gruesome incident occurred early in the third quarter of Miami’s matchup against the New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium, with the Dolphins holding a 10-3 lead, per USA Today.

On a third-and-8 play from the Jets’ 34-yard line, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa connected with Hill near the sideline.

As the star receiver was tackled going out of bounds, his left leg twisted unnaturally, bending in a direction that immediately signaled a catastrophic injury.

Hill had been having one of his best performances of the season before disaster struck, hauling in all six targets for 67 yards.

The play that ended his night started routinely enough, a completion for a first down, but ended with Hill on the ground, his knee facing the wrong direction.

Medical personnel from both teams rushed to Hill’s aid as players gathered around in concern.

According to ESPN sideline reporter Katie George, medical staff cut off Hill’s cleat and the tape around his ankle before stabilizing his leg.

In a touching moment, Hill’s mother came down to the field and kissed her son on the forehead before he was loaded onto a cart.

Despite the severity of the injury, Hill showed remarkable composure, smiling as he left the field and reportedly telling head coach Mike McDaniel: “I’m good. Just make sure the guys get this win.”

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel confirmed after the game that Hill had suffered a knee dislocation, though he declined to provide additional details pending further evaluation.

Hill was transported to a local hospital for imaging and observation, with ESPN’s broadcast showing him leaving the stadium in a wheelchair with a heavy brace on his left leg.

Medical experts immediately began speculating about the extent of the damage.

Physical therapist Jeff Mueller suggested the injury could involve an LCL tear, per Larry Brown Sports, with potential implications for the meniscus and ACL, and noted concerns about possible nerve damage.

If confirmed as a dislocated knee, the injury would likely end Hill’s 2025 season.

While the injury itself shocked viewers, ESPN drew intense criticism for its decision to broadcast a slow-motion replay of the incident during the game.

Social media erupted with fans questioning why the network chose to show the graphic footage repeatedly, the Irish Star reports.

“Who in the truck for ESPN made the call to show that Tyreek Hill injury in slow-mo?” one fan questioned, while another wrote: “Very brave of ESPN to show us a replay of Tyreek’s leg snapping like a dry twig.”

Hill’s injury represents a devastating loss for the Dolphins’ offense.

The eight-time Pro Bowler entered the game with 15 catches for 198 yards and a touchdown through the first three games of the season and remains one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL.

However, Miami found an unlikely silver lining in the return of tight end Darren Waller, who came out of retirement to rejoin the team.

Waller scored two touchdowns in the game, providing a crucial offensive spark in Hill’s absence as the Dolphins held on for a 27-21 victory.

“He looks ready, he feels ready,” McDaniel had said of Waller before the game. “There’s going to be those game-day jitters that everyone loves as a player. I’m sure he’ll be very fired up to get the first rep out of the way.”

The Dolphins organization and fans across the league now await the results of Hill’s MRI and further medical evaluation.

McDaniel noted that Hill was ‘in the best spirits of any player’ he had seen injured on the field, a testament to the receiver’s mental toughness.
