Kelly Powers Has Died Aged 45
Dr. Kelly Powers has tragically died at the age of 45.
Powers was a regular Fox commentator, appearing on the network’s Red Eye talk show.
She was also an accomplished surgeon and podiatrist who was featured in medical publications and media outlet appearances as a health expert.
Following the news of Power’s death, fans have paid tribute to her vibrant personality and dedication to her family, profession, and community.
One fan pens: “This is heartbreaking. May she rest in peace. Prayers for her family.”
“Absolutely heartbroken for her family and loved ones,” writes another.
A third adds: “This is so tragic, she was so young at only 45.”
Power’s obituary describes her as ‘a brave and beautiful soul who made friends wherever she went’ and shared that she enjoyed ‘activities like gardening, ballet, surfing, horseback riding, and traveling.’
The Fox commentator’s death comes after a relentless battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
She reportedly began experiencing severe headaches and a grand mal seizure in 2020, per The Independent.
A CT scan revealed the presence of a brain tumor, leading to emergency surgery.
Despite undergoing multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy, the cancer returned aggressively earlier this year.
Glioblastoma is one of the deadliest forms of brain cancer, with a survival rate of just 15 months for most patients, according to the Mayo Clinic.
The disease is notoriously resistant to traditional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation.
Experts are deeply concerned about a projected rise in glioblastoma cases, which are expected to increase by 72% by 2050, per the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
Pollution, exposure to chemicals like pesticides and benzene, and inflammation from other health conditions may contribute to this surge.
Before her brain cancer diagnosis, Powers had already faced significant health challenges, including gallstones and heart disease, which required gallbladder removal in 2018.
Studies suggest a link between these conditions and inflammation, which may contribute to brain cancer development.
Despite these hurdles, Powers continued to embrace life with resilience and optimism.
Her death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, friends, and public figures.
Conservative commentator Meghan McCain called glioblastoma ‘pure, unadulterated evil,’ while Fox host Britt McHenry, who has also faced brain cancer, expressed admiration for Powers’ strength and kindness.
Powers is survived by her husband, Steven Doll, their three-year-old son, Bennett, her parents, and in-laws, Daniel and Laraine Doll.
