Goldberg is a hugely acclaimed celebrity, and one of the few individuals who have achieved the EGOT status, meaning she has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.
But in more recent years, she’s stepped away from showbiz and is primarily known for her hosting skills on panel show The View.
And although The Color Purple actress has earned major success in her professional life, her personal life has been a little quieter.
Sure, she’s been married three times – to Lyle Trachtenberg 1994–1995, David Claessen 1986–1988, and Alvin Martin 1973–1979 – but she’s now dedicated to the single life.
And on a recent episode of The View, Goldberg explained why…
Goldberg famously told the New York Times (via People) in 2016 that she was ‘not that interested’ in marriage, saying: “I can spend as much time with somebody as I want to spend, but I’m not looking to be with somebody forever or live with someone.”
She added: “I don’t want somebody in my house.”
But recently, Goldberg has doubled down on her comments – plus, offered a real explanation as to why she’s dedicated to the single life!

The discussion starts when co-host Sunny Hostin says: “I sort of believe in don’t let the sun set on your anger and if we argue… if Manny and I are in an argument, I can’t sleep, I literally cannot sleep, I keep on thinking about it.”
“A married couple of psychologists who wrote the book ‘Fight Right: How Successful Couples Turn Conflict into Connection’, they say it’s OK to go to bed angry,” Whoopi then tells her co-stars.
“Because it gives you time to take a breath and think things over and understand someone better – ” she went on, having to stop after bursting out laughing.
Whoopi adds: “That just tickles me, you know?
“That’s why I go to bed alone! I don’t have to worry about it, I don’t care who is mad!”
