Tesco has reportedly been forced to ‘recall 14 chicken products over a salmonella scare’.

The supermarket has responded to Cranswick Country Foods, which has alerted consumers that traces of the bacteria have been discovered in a ‘limited number’ of its items.

As a precautionary measure, additional products are being taken off the shelves while the investigation remains underway.

A Cranswick spokesperson has confirmed that it’s in touch in with the Food Standards Agency over the issue.

They reportedly said: “We are conducting a thorough investigation into the possible cause of the contamination and the site will remain closed until the investigations are complete.

“The safety and quality of every product produced by Cranswick is our number one priority and all necessary protocols will be followed and completed before we restart production.”

The Food Safety Authority website has listed all of the recalled products.

Tesco Issues Urgent Recall Over Biscuits

Tesco isn’t the only major supermarket that has recalled a number of chicken items. Apparently, Aldi, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, One Stop, Amazon, and Co-op has followed suit.

It’s believed it may have also affected food products from chains such as Caffè Nero, Costa, and Pret A Manger.

The NHS has listed numerous symptoms of the infection, including stomach cramps, nausea, fever, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Cranswick’s chicken isn’t the only item that has been recalled over fears surrounding the bacteria.

Recently, Kinder Surprise eggs were pulled from shop shelves when salmonella was reportedly detected at the factory where its produced.

Despite the move, it’s believed none of its items within the site contained the disease.
