The Coca-Cola Christmas truck has become a hallmark of the festive season, with hundreds of people queuing to see the vehicle visit their city each year.
The truck first appeared in 1995 as part of the brand’s Christmas advertising campaign.
The original advert, known as the ‘Christmas Caravan’, saw endless Coke trucks passing through multiple hillsides, valleys and towns.
It was created by ad agency W.B. Doner and featured the special effects of the renowned company Industrial Light and Magic, which previously worked on the original Star Wars movies, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Forrest Gump.
According to the Coca-Cola Australia website, each truck featured in the advert was a ‘40-foot, 2-ton ‘light brite’ on wheels with more than 30,000 bulbs’.

However, in recent times, the Coca-Cola truck has become a key part of the Christmas tradition, with fans queuing to see the vehicle.
It was in 2010 when it first started visiting towns and cities in the UK.

After not touring in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it made a return in 2021 and is set once again to embark on a journey around the country once again in 2022.
So let’s take a look at what dates it will be touring and which locations:
When will the Coca-Cola Christmas truck start touring in 2022?
The first stop for the Christmas truck will be Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent on November 25.
From there it will visit:
- Sainsbury’s, Beckton – November 26 and 27
- Dublin – December 8 to 10
- Belfast -December 16 and 17
These are the only dates that have been confirmed as of writing.
Where else could the Coca-Cola Christmas Truck tour?
The Coca-Cola truck usually appears in some of the same locations each year so fans can still expect it to show up there at some point, despite having no date announced yet.
These places include:
- London
- Manchester
- Edinburgh
- Cardiff
- Leeds
- Newcastle Upon Tyne
- Liverpool
- Bristol
- Portsmouth
- Watford
- And many more…
How long will the Coca-Cola Christmas truck be on tour?
Going off previous years, fans could expect to see the Coca-Cola truck finish up its tour the week before Christmas.
However, this is dependent on when the dates are announced.
In 2021, the tour took place from November 24 to December 19 and fans could expect a similar three-week stint for the iconic Coca-Cola truck this year.
What can fans get from the Coca-Cola Christmas truck?
One of the most important things that get fans excited about the festive truck is that you can pick up free sample drinks while visiting the vehicle.
In 2021, fans were given small cans of Coke Zero and they could grab a selfie with the iconic red truck.
