Cristiano Ronaldo posted a series of messages about meeting his baby boy before he tragically died during childbirth.
The Portuguese footballer took to Instagram on April 18 and confirmed the heartbreaking news that his and Georgina Rodríguez’s child passed away, while the infant’s twin sister survived.
Back in October of last year, Ronaldo shared a photo of him and his girlfriend posing with their baby scan to celebrate the exciting news.

At the time, he penned: “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins. Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you.”
This was followed by baby and heart emojis.
As well as posting the baby scan, Ronaldo also shared a heartwarming photo of his four other kids, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, twins Eva and Mateo, and Alana Marti, at the beach.
In December, the couple made another emotional social media post in which they revealed the genders of the twins they were expecting.
In the clip, Ronaldo’s offspring held onto black balloons while surrounding the Christmas tree. The kids then popped them to reveal both pink and blue confetti.
Heartbreakingly, it was captioned: “Where life begins and love never ends.”

When announcing their newborn son’s death, Ronaldo wrote: “It is with our deepest sadness that we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away.
“It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel. Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
Thousands of fans have since paid tribute.
