Darren Criss has been hit with some major blowback over his controversial name choice for his second baby…

Darren Criss, the multi-talented actor and singer best known for his role as Blaine Anderson on Glee, has not only made headlines for his career but also for his personal life.

But now, his choice of name for his newborn son has received some major backlash…

Criss’s love story with Mia Swier is one for the books.

The couple’s relationship began in 2010, long before Criss became a household name.

Swier, a writer, producer, and musician, has been a steady presence in Criss’s life for over a decade.

After nearly eight years of dating, Criss announced his engagement to Swier in January 2018.

And on February 16, 2019, the pair tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in New Orleans, US.

The couple’s love story reached a new milestone with the arrival of their first child. On April 11, 2022, Criss and Swier welcomed their daughter, Bluesy Belle Criss.

People found Criss’s choice of name for his first daughter to be a little odd.

“Bluesy??? Poor kid,” one fan wrote.

Another added: “Another dumb name.”

But that’s nothing compared to the backlash he’s facing for the name of his newborn son…

Criss announced the news on Instagram, and some people were quick to share their congratulations.

“Yeeeeesssss! So happy for your growing Family!! Love you all!” writes Matthew Morrison, who played Will Schuester on the show.

“Congratulations!” adds fellow co-star Kevin McHale, who played Artie Abrams.

“That baby is already cooler than I’ll ever be,” says one fan.

However, some were quick to criticise the ‘horrible name’.

“I feel so bad for this child,” one states bluntly. “I would change it as soon as I could.”

In fact, on the whole, Criss’s fans are deeply unimpressed.

“Darren … I adore you … But you just doomed your kid to mockery for the rest of his life,” one person states.

“What the hell is up with celebs choosing such ridiculous names?” wonders another.

“WTF is that name,” grumbles a third fan.

“M & D just delivered their follow-up single,” Criss wrote on Instagram in his birth announcement.

“Brother Laszlo Criss, 6/3/24.

“Out now … and yes his first name is Brother.”

“If you have to clarify that it is his name, maybe it shouldn’t be his name,” one follower points out in the comments section.

“If you have to explain their name is ‘Brother’, then a different name should be picked,” agrees another.

“Darren my love, my world, my Pookie Bookie Bear… you did not just name your child BROTHER?” jokes another.

Other commenters were quick to point out the logistical issues with the unusual name.

“The future girlfriend/boyfriend is gonna be calling him brother,” notes one follower.

“It’s going to lead to so much confusion in his life. Poor kid,” adds another.

“Imagine applying for a visa and being rejected like, you were supposed to state your name and not your brother’s.

“How was this approved?”

The news has even made its way across the whole internet.

“Darren Criss’ new baby’ name is a crime,” wrote one Reddit user.

“I read that and I was like ‘oh! László’s a nice name, and somehow it even goes well with Bluesy’, and then I got to the end and realised what they had done to that poor child. Way to let the whole world know that you prefer your daughter.

“‘Brother’ Criss sounds like a cult leader or a bad 90s band. I really hope they end up rethinking this one.

Another agrees, laughing: “I know, I was like ‘oh, Laszlo, interesting choice but kinda cool’ and then I got to the end and was HORRIFIED.”

With two children named Bluesy and Brother, one fan wondered if the couple might not be fans of a particular movie.

“Did you name your kids after The Blues Brothers, just in a super literal way?” the fan wrote.
