David Beckham has reignited a debate after sharing a photo of himself kissing his daughter, Harper, on the lips.
The football star took to Instagram on January 14 and shared two snaps of himself and his 10-year-old child.
He captioned the post: “Daddy and Princess Leia had a lovely walk this morning.”

However, the post didn’t go down well with some of Beckham’s followers, who argued that the interaction ‘is not normal’.
One follower asked: “Wait, what!? Why do families kiss on the lips?”
“On the lips… no!” added another.

A third pitched in, commenting: “This is not normal. She is grown.”
“Why do you kiss your daughter on the lips?” a fourth questioned. “It’s weird and inappropriate.”
However, the majority of followers stood by the 46-year-old and insisted that there’s ‘nothing wrong’ with a father kissing his child.
Defending Beckham, one fan wrote: “To anyone calling this weird – she’s 10 and she’s giving her dad a kiss. Get a grip and shut up.”
In agreement, a second fumed: “If you think there’s something wrong with it, it’s your own mind that is messed up!”
“Disgusted by the comments and actions of some people all over a picture of a loving father kissing his daughter. This world is a sad place to live in these days,” a third penned.

This isn’t the first time that Beckham has caused controversy by kissing his daughter on the lips.
In 2017, the dad-of-four faced a backlash after posting a similar shot.
Responding to the criticism at the time, he reportedly wrote in a Facebook post: “I kiss all my kids on the lips.”
