The Harry Potter films, which are based on the book series by J.K. Rowling, is one of the most successful franchises, having grossed $7.7 billion over a 10-year period.

Despite finishing 11 years ago, fans are still discovering secrets and deleted scenes.

One removed scene that features Harry saying goodbye to his cruel adopted family, the Dursleys, has left fans emotional.

In a deleted scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part One, the Dursleys have to retreat from their home on Privet Drive due to the threat of Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

In the film, you don’t see Vernon, Petunia and Dudley leave their home – but a deleted scene has shown their final interaction.

The scene starts with Vernon, who is unbothered about saying goodbye to his nephew, as he is hurrying his family into the car.

When Harry walks downstairs, he’s met with his aunt who is standing in the living room.

He explains to her that she is not safe there, which prompts her to reply: “Do you think I don’t know what they’re capable of?

“You didn’t just lose a mother that night in Godric’s Hollow, you know. I lost my sister,” which is a line ripped straight out of the book.

Following that moment, Vernon says a half-hearted goodbye before Dudley asks why Harry isn’t coming with them.

He responds by implying that Harry ‘doesn’t want to’ go with them, which forces the boy wizard to say: “I’m just a waste of space, isn’t that right Vernon?”

This prompts Potter’s cousin to walk over to Harry and extends his hand, before telling him: “I don’t think you’re a waste of space.”

One person writes: “Greatest Harry Potter Moments: the deleted scene when Dudley tells Harry he’s not a waste of space.”

Another person adds: “They really should have kept in the deleted scene where Dudley shakes Harry’s hand and says, ‘You’re not a waste of space’.”
