Leicester City are storming the Premier League table and parody twitter account Deluded Brendan is scoring a top spot right up there with them.
Although the premise that Brendan Rodgers is “deluded” is disappearing quicker than Man City’s hopes of bagging the title – his team have had 3 wins from their last 4 matches and are sitting pretty at 2nd in the Premier League – Deluded Brendan is still one of the top football accounts and is boasting great engagement within the football and general sport community.
The fans and followers just can’t get enough and are absolutely loving the constant stream of delusional character content from this parody account.
Some people are even tweeting that the account deserves Sports Personality of the Year!
For me i still can't get over @DeludedBrendan not being up for coach of the year #SPOTY ???

A tweet from DB earlier this month amassed a whopping 10.6k likes and 1.3k retweets when it combined the two things you should never talk about if you want to stay friends…football and politics. Thanks Deluded Brendan!

But who is Deluded Brendan, where did he come from and why is he so popular? The twitter account in the last month alone made 12.5 million impressions and 131 thousand profile visits – with only 64 tweets in the last 28 days to its 359k strong following, those are some impressive stats and they don’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon…
The account was born in 2014 when a social media whizz and football fanatic saw an opportunity to grow a following based purely on the end of Rodgers’ tenure at Liverpool football club when he quite frankly “bottled the league.” As a Liverpool fan, I’m not even going to mention that Gerrard slip…
In case you’re not familiar (which I’m sure you are) with the Gerrard slip or how that season ended for Liverpool underneath the management of Brendan take a look.

Despite having previously managed Liverpool way back when, there are constant references in the twitter-sphere today that Brendan may actually be the one to end Liverpool’s charge to the title. Oh the irony.
I did mate. Do you follow deluded Brendan on here? Funniest parody EVER. Followed him from his Liverpool days. Go look-see ???

It’s now the Foxes and the Deluded Brendan to save us from Liverpool winning it…

As people love to jump on the back of other people’s misfortune (luckily for Brendan), the account grew and grew and ‘Deluded Brendan’ stuck. The account featured in multiple online publications, which only increased the influx of followers and retweets. DB has featured in Talk Sport, Benchwarmers and Sports Keeda.
Even the likes of Raheem Sterling and Southampton FC know the account (which is huge) albeit only to block it, but hey, at least it’s on their radar.
Even as of yesterday the account managed to hit another great Tweet out of the park having a light-hearted dig at Harry Maguire’s current misfortunes at Manchester United.
Man United with Harry Maguire:
Goals conceded: 22
Leicester without Harry Maguire:
Goals conceded: 14
We've conceded 8 less goals without him and earnt £80 million in the process.

So there you have it, although Brendan is doing pretty well at Leicester, he will always be known as Deluded Brendan to us, and Twitter. If you don’t already follow the parody account, I suggest you do asap. Head to Twitter right now! Even Pep is a fan..

In the meantime can the real Brendan Rodgers take Leicester to the top? Or will he miss out twice?
I’ll leave you with some of the greatest DB tweets that will, according to Sports Keeda, leave you in tears.
