Demi Lovato, who is non-binary, has shocked fans by ‘hosting a funeral’ for their pop career. 

The 29-year-old, who recently debuted a buzzcut, revealed to followers that their older music ‘was knocking on death’s door’.

Announcing the news on Instagram, they captioned the post: “A funeral for my pop music.”

In the photo, Lovato’s manager, Scooter Braun, can be seen, alongside a representative of Island Records.

Fans took to social media to express their excitement at the singer’s latest venture.


Another added: “Demi Lovato posting a snippet of a new rock banger and captioning an IG post ‘a funeral for my pop music’ is possibly the most exciting thing to happen to music in the last several months, and if you don’t agree give ‘Don’t Forget’ (2008) a re-listen.”

A third commented: “Funeral for @ddlovato’s pop music we love you thank you for helping us through thick and thin! It’s time for #ROCKVATO to rise again!”

Demi Lovato Confirms They Are No Longer ‘California Sober’ 

Lovato has also shared another post on their story in which they can be seen screaming with joy.

Apparently, a record label executive has informed the Camp Rock star that they can ‘put out whatever music’ they want and encouraged them to ‘break the rules’. 

Excited by their new venture, Lovato shared two clips of their ‘rock-inspired’ tracks on Instagram.

In one, Lovato sang: “Pushed to the edge/Prod me, lie to me, ungodly things have been sent. Here are your tickets to the freak show baby, sci-fi, watch the freak go crazy.”
