Doctor Who fans have praised the show for its long-awaited same-sex relationship which aired in the most recent episode.
In the instalment, Yazmin ‘Yaz’ Khan (played by Mandip Gill) confesses her feelings for Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor.
The episode shows Yaz and Dan (who is played by John Bishop) being separated from the Timelord, which leads to Dan discovering the companion’s true feelings.

The revelation comes out when he asks Yaz whether she’s ever opened up about her feelings, to which she responds: “I don’t know what to do Dan. I’ve never told anyone. Not even myself.”
Dan then tells the Doctor that Yaz has romantic feelings for her. When she pretends not to understand, he adds: “I think you do, but for some reason, you pretend to me, and to her, that you don’t.”
The episode has since been praised by Robbie De Santos, Stonewall’s Director of Communications and External Affairs.
He told Metro: “It’s fantastic to see a prominent storyline on attraction between two women in the latest episode of Doctor Who.
“There have long been LGBTQ+ themes in the show, and the storyline between Yasmin Khan and the Doctor is one of the most significant examples so far.
“‘We can’t be what we can’t see and seeing same-sex attraction represented in one of our most popular TV shows will delight viewers and mean so much to LGBTQ+ people across the country.”

Fans were quick to heap their praise on the show for the same-sex relationship over on Twitter.
One person said: “I actually loved that small bit they did on the last Doctor Who episode. Especially the Doc’s reaction when Dan tells her about Yaz. I for one I’m not complaining about that kind of thing in a TV show.”
Another added: “I wish I could relive the moment when I first watched Yaz’s coming out scene. The silence when Dan was looking at Yaz who was looking at the doctor running off. That exact moment.”
