Dog Finds And Guards Family’s Bread When They Leave The House!

A dog has been filmed by owners finding and guarding the family bread – making sure to protect it whenever her owners leave the house!

Jakey is using her guard skills to not watch over the house but a loaf of bread instead. Using her excelling sniffing skills, she has a knack for finding the baked goods in the house and once her owner is out of the door, she sniffs out the plastic-wrapped loaf and will protect it with all her heart.

Katrina Frank, Jakey’s owner, told The Dodo: “Every time we would leave she would hide the bread.

“We have a bread box so she likes to hop up and pull it out of there.”

Katrina added: “If I leave it in the pantry instead, she nudges the door open and gets it out. I’ve put it in the refrigerator before and she has opened the door to get to it.”

Despite Jakey’s life revolving around loaves of bread, she has never once taken a bite of it – but she doesn’t let any of Katrina’s other pets have a nibble too!

“She likes to put it behind the couch and lay by it. Otherwise, [she puts it in] the closet in my bedroom,” Katrina said. “I assume she thinks it’s the most important thing to us because we use it so often.”

When Katrina returns home, she is always lead to the loaf of bread by her pup – who has a guilty look on her face! However, it doesn’t bother Katrina as she knows it’s just one of Jakey’s humorous quirks, and she always makes sure to return the bread.

Whenever the household runs out of bread, this doesn’t stop Jakey from fulfilling her duty.

Katrina said: “If I’m out of bread, she moves onto baked goods.

“Once she took a Tupperware of cookies off the counter and hid all 17 individually without breaking any. She led me to all of them.”

And if the family has not one bit of starch in the house, then Jakey goes on to protecting the butter.

At least having Jakey around, the family know that the food will always be safe!
