Mentioning the ‘one other thing that nobody talks about,’ Trump stated: “So, we have hundreds of thousands of people flowing in from Haiti. Haiti has a tremendous AIDs problem.

“AIDS is a step beyond. AIDS is a real bad problem.”

He continued: “Many of those people will probably have AIDS and they’re coming into our country. And we don’t do anything about it. We let everybody come in.

“It’s like a death wish for our country.”

After hearing his comments, many people have taken to social media and blasted the 75-year-old for being ‘ignorant’.

One person tweeted: “Donald Trump’s adopted and treasured disease, racism, has killed more people than AIDS will ever kill.”

Another added: “Okay, so Donald Trump’s problem with Haitians is that they will be spreading AIDS around the United States. How does that work?”

“Wow, just wow. This is disgusting,” a third simply penned.

The Haitian embassy has since condemned the ‘racist and baseless’ comments that Trump made. In a statement, it was argued that his remarks only helped to ‘sow hatred’ in society.

It read: “These vile comments aim only to sow hatred and discord against immigrants.”

According to World Bank data, Haiti’s HIV has steadily decreased over the past 15 years. It is estimated that 1.9 percent of Haitians aged between 15 to 49 now carry the disease.
