Donald Trump has reportedly dubbed the Taliban ‘smart’ and described its members as ‘good fighters’.
He said: “The Taliban, good fighters, I will tell you, good fighters. You have to give them credit for that. They’ve been fighting for a thousand years. What they do is they fight.

“The Taliban has circled the airport, and who knows if they’re going to treat us right? All of a sudden, they’ll say – well, frankly, if they were smart, they’d really – and they are smart. They are smart. They should let the Americans out.”
The former president’s praise for the organisation has been branded ‘alarming,’ especially as the Taliban has been responsible for many assassinations and bombings.
However, Trump’s claim that the Taliban has been around for such a long time doesn’t quite ring true.
According to reports, the terror group was founded in Kandahar, Afghanistan, back in September 1994.
In 1996, its members managed to take control of the country’s capital, Kabul but lost power when the American forces came on the scene in 2001.
After hearing that the Taliban had once again taken over Kabul, Trump had a lot to say.
He penned: “It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in Covid, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy.”
Trump then referenced his previous claim, alleging that Biden won the presidential election through fraud.
Ending the statement, he said: “It shouldn’t be a big deal, because he wasn’t elected legitimately in the first place.”
Earlier on, he is believed to have commented: “Tragic mess in Afghanistan, a completely open and broken border, crime at record levels, oil prices through the roof, inflation rising, and taken advantage of by the entire world—DO YOU MISS ME YET?”
