Comedian and aspiring politician Eddie Izzard has announced her new name.
Izzard, 61, has had a decades-long career in film and television, most notably appearing in the Ocean’s 11 films and NBC’s Hannibal series.
She has also been a successful stand-up comedian.
Izzard first opened up about her s**uality in 1985, describing herself as trans and labelling it a ‘superhero thing’.
She has also described herself as gender fluid and publicly announced in 2020 that she uses she/her pronouns, saying she wanted ‘to be based in girl mode from now on’.

Now, Izzard has revealed her new name – the one she’s wanted to use since she was 10 years old.
Appearing on The Political Party podcast with Matt Forde, Izzard speaks about her s**uality and how she identifies in further detail.
She says (via Politico): “I prefer to see she/her, I don’t mind he/him… I’m Eddie.
Reportedly, she then tells the host she now wants to be known as Suzy.
She continues: “There’s another name I’m going to add in as well.

“Suzy, which I wanted to be since I was 10. I’m going to be Suzy Eddie Izzard.”
Izzard says she’ll be using Suzy as well as Eddie, rather than instead of.
She explains: “That’s how I’m going to roll, so people can choose what they want.

“They can’t make a mistake, they can’t go wrong.
“And then I thought, well if I’m doing she/her, why don’t I add that to the name?
“Because I’ve got ‘Edward’ on my passport, it’s quite wooden and big and I don’t call myself that.
“So, I just thought I’ll add Suzy there, and then Eddie, and people can choose what they want and no one can go wrong.”

Outside of her work in Hollywood, Izzard is a member of the UK’s Labour Party and a vocal political activist.
She insists she will ‘keep going until I get in’ as a Labour MP, after an unsuccessful bid at the selection in Sheffield Central last year.
When asked if she would be happy to give up comedy for the backbenches, Izzard replies: “Do I have to be backbench?”
She also says she ‘won’t do dates’ when quizzed on her timeline for joining the Labour frontbench – and wouldn’t be drawn on her ambitions to be prime minister.
