Elon Musk, who has been branded ‘dangerous for democracy,’ has hinted he wants to ‘buy Coca-Cola’ next so that he can ‘put the cocaine back in it’.

Despite having just bought Twitter for a reported £44billion, it seems the Tesla CEO is determined to keep on making waves by investing in the soft drink brand.

On the social media platform, he tweeted: “Next I’m buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine back in.”

The tweet has received over 2.5million likes and almost 500,000 comments since being posted.

In response to it, one said: “Good move! Would be glad to work with you as a country manager here in Nigeria.”

“There is a political party in Peru that can help you with supply,” added a second. “They are removing military bases in an area knows as “el VRAEM” and thus increasing un-checked production as we speak.”

“I’m ready to drink,” joked a third.

Coca-Cola was invented in 1894 and it has been alleged that the first-ever bottle reportedly contained 3.5 grams of cocaine. However, this claim has since been dismissed.

Referencing this, one wrote: “Cocaine is the most expensive drug. I just looked online. One gram of cocaine costs around $35. If a bottle contains 3.5 grams of cocaine, that means Coca-Cola was the most expensive drink at that time.

“Who was drinking it then? Billionaires?”

Another added: “Well you can’t buy time Elon. You will die like everyone, and go to your lord. Life on this planet is way too short. Your money, wealth, Tesla, Twitter, and your followers will not buy you even a foot square in Heaven. So, be good; promote monotheism, freedom, peace, justice!”

Some users took offence to the joke, and called Musk out for his promise ‘to end world hunger’ by giving the UN $6billion, saying: “Next pay the $6billion you openly promised to the UN to end world hunger.”

Another fumed: “Elon Musk you making a joke about ‘buying Coca-Cola to put the cocaine in’ is extremely disgusting. You are only promoting the use of illicit drugs by doing this. The world has a lot of pressing issues, with your wealth and influence you can help tackle a few.”
