Elon Musk’s daughter has filed legal documents to ‘sever ties’ with the billionaire.
According to TMZ, Vivian Jenna Wilson – who was previously known as Xavier Alexander Musk – filed the documents shortly after her 18th birthday.
The outlet report that she wants to be ‘recognised as female’ and ‘drop her last name,’ with the official reasoning reportedly being: “Gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”

It’s understood that the documents were first filed in Santa Monica back in April, but only recently become public.
So far, there has been no further explanation as to the change.
According to The Daily Beast, Musk responded to the news by saying his child has a ‘right to privacy’.
Reportedly, he said: “She does not want to be a public figure. I think it is important to defend her right to privacy.
“Please don’t out someone against their will – it’s not right.”
Musk, who has seven children, shares five with Wilson’s mother, Justine, including Vivian’s twin brother, Griffin. The 50-year-old was married to her mum from 2000 to 2008.
Elon Musk Faces Backlash Over ‘Offensive’ Pride Month Post
On Father’s Day, he sent out a message to all of his children but didn’t address Wilson’s name change.
Musk simply wrote: “Happy Father’s Day. I love all my kids so much.”
However, it’s believed that a month after Musk’s daughter submitted the papers, he expressed his support for the Republican Party. Its current electives support legislation that would potentially limit the rights of transgender people.
He reportedly said in 2020: “I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare.”
