People are only just realising that there’s a hidden meaning in one of Eminem’s hit songs when played backwards, and it’s leaving them gobsmacked.

Marshall Bruce Mathers III, who is known professionally as Eminem, is one of the world’s most successful rappers and is behind some of the biggest songs of the past two decades, including ‘Lose Yourself’ and ‘Love The Way You Lie’.

Throughout his career, Eminem has also been dubbed the ‘modern-day William Shakespeare’, as per the BBC, thanks to his fast rhyming, enunciation and clever rhyme schemes.

‘The Real Slim Shady’ rapper left people baffled when he proved that you can actually rhyme something with the word orange.

And once again, Eminem’s fans have been left speechless after finding out there’s apparently a secret meaning behind one of his most popular songs…

Eminem’s ‘My Name Is’, which is on his second album ‘The Slim Shady LP’, dropped in 1999.

It peaked within the top ten charts in Iceland, New Zealand, Norway, Ireland and the UK – while over in the US, it peaked at 36 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his first top 40 there.

The track garnered Eminem his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 42nd Grammy Awards in 2000.

It was also number 39 on Rolling Stone’s list of ‘100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of all time’.

Although the track was clearly a success, the ‘Mockingbird’ rapper has since said ‘I f***ing hate that song’.

He told Rolling Stones: “Yeah, I didn’t hate that song when I first made it. But the s*** that I really, really like, that I put my heart and soul into, I don’t get recognised for, like ‘The Way I Am’.

“There’s a difference between me being funny and me being real. I feel like I don’t get recognised for my best s*** — the s*** that’s my real, true feelings and emotions.”

While Eminem may not appreciate his lyrical genius with the track, people are taking to TikTok and saying that you can’t truly appreciate the song until you’ve listened to it backwards.

A TikToker, who goes by the name @senoralec, has gone viral after playing ‘My Name Is’ in reverse, as they’ve pointed out how the song has even more layers to it than originally thought.

People have taken to the comments and shared their disbelief, with one person commenting: “Wow, that’s crazy.”

Another agrees, saying: “This is insane.”

The TikToker gets the track up on a computer screen and demonstrates what actually happens when you cut a section of the song and reverse it.

Cleverly, it sounds like Eminem is saying his own name when ‘My Name Is’ is sung backwards.

Was this meant to be a secret hidden message… who knows? But regardless, it’s left fans speechless…

“Dude no f***in way! That’s cool,” one fan comments.

Another adds: “Holy s***, that is amazing!”
